Curriculum and Instruction The librarian worked with teachers and students providing library orientation and collaboration in the Primary School and Middle School. Grade 2 students discovered Tomie de Paola’s books and learned about his work and life, and learned to draw like him! Grade 8 students worked with the research steps (from creating a research question to proper citing sources and bibliography). In semester 1, we explored the Great Depression in connection with the reading of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. In semester 2, we researched about issues faced by Indigenous Peoples, in connection to the reading of the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Wiki and Prezi were used to discuss and present their findings. Grade 6
students researched their favorite
authors, and made presentations promoting them. Bibliography sessions were also given to support class assignments throughout the year.
