PRAYER DIARY January April 2017

WELCOME to the prayer diary “I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord , the Maker of heaven and earth.” (NIV) These are famous words from the psalmist in Psalm 121 about his Christian journey. At Christians in Sport, as we journey on in reaching the world of sport for Christ, we give great thanks to the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, to whom all glory must be given. We are so grateful for the ways He faithfully provides for the work financially, for the countless opportunities to proclaim the gospel in the world of sport and for the many who are praying, playing and saying across the work, and who seek to make Christ known to others in sport. And as we continue daily, we are so aware of our need for His help. Thank you for joining us in this vital work of prayer. “Lift up your eyes to the mountains – where does our help come from? Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!” What a God we have - creator, saviour and Lord of all! In Christ, Laura Murdoch, Partner Relations Team Our mission To reach the world of sport for Christ. Our visions Christians everywhere living out their faith in sports clubs and teams. Churches everywhere engaging with their local sports communities. Sportspeople everywhere having the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus.

MY PRAYER What are you praying that God will do in the world of sport during 2017? Here is our General Director, Graham Daniels’ prayer. Do fill in yours on the page opposite and share it on social media.

Graham Daniels General Director, Christians in Sport Cambridge United FC When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he [Jesus] said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field”. Matthew 9 v 36-28 (NIV) My prayer for 2017 is that we may grasp that Jesus has ‘compassion’ on the ‘crowds’ of sportspeople in our clubs and teams as He sees ‘sheep without a shepherd’ - leaderless people. I pray that we might see that the world of sport is a ‘harvest which is plentiful’ and that, because we believe all these things, we may be the ‘workers sent into His harvest field’.

R FOR 2017 WHAT’S YOUR PRAYER FOR THE WORLD OF SPORT IN 2017? Why don’t you jot down what your prayer for this year would be in your world of sport?
