The International Day of Peace is coming up on September 21st, and we’re starting celebrations early. This year’s theme for Peace Day is #CISVright4peace which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We will be challenging CISVers around the world to team up with their local Junior Branch members in a series of calls to action leading up to the International Day of Peace. You can find all the challenges here, but we will be releasing them on both the CISV International and International Junior Branch Facebook page. Organize how, when, and with whom you’ll complete the challenges. As each challenge is released the comment section of the post will be open for you to share your thoughts and ideas about the questions posed. When you complete each challenge, please send us your pictures to peaceday@ijb.cisv.org. Your photos may even be shared on a CISV official Instagram account! Keep an eye on social media for the challenges, and jump on board with the online discussions! With love, The Peace Day Team Agus, Amy, Ben, Emily, and Yasmine

e r o f e B y t i v i t c a e h t In this document you will find a list of 21 challenges to encourage peace in your community, each challenge includes a prompt/question, an action encouraging you to document the challenge and a list of materials (if needed). Before the activity, take some time to think about the time you will have, the place you will be, and select the amount of challenges you think fit best.

Divide the participants in the amount of challenges selected and give each group the challenge card. For example: if you have 12 challenges and 60 people, you could do 12 groups of 5 people. Explain that the idea is to show the diversity of peace to the community and how the challenges contribute to it. Provide each group with the necessary materials (or have them look for materials, it could be part of the challenge).

Once you have finished, send your pictures from the event, news coverage or anything relevant to the Peace Day Campaign Team at

Remind participants about this year’s theme and campaign, to use the hashtag, and to document everything they do.
