LUCIANNE MCEVOY | MARIE Lucianne trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College Dublin. Most recent theatre credits include: The Libertine (Citizens Theatre); Dance of Death (Vox Motus/Citizens Theatre); What Put The Blood (Abbey Theatre, Dublin); The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time (National Theatre); The Weir (Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh); Leaving Planet Earth (Grid Iron/Edinburgh International Festival); A Doll’s House (National Theatre of Scotland/ Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh); The Making of Us (Tramway/ National Theatre of Scotland). Radio credits include: Stardust, If I Could Fly (Raidió Teilifís Éireann); The Vital Spark: Intelligence (BBC Scotland). Film credits include: In America (Harlem Film Productions); A Family Affair (UCD); The Pear Bottle (Igloo Productions). For television Lucianne played the regular role of Tara in NY-LON (Channel 4).
SINÉAD SHARKEY | DEIRDRE Sinéad graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland last year. She is this year’s Citizens Theatre Actor Intern. Theatre credits include: Cinderella (Citizens Theatre); Faithful Ruslan (Citizens Theatre/Belgrade Theatre, Coventry); Pleasure and Pain, The Burial at Thebes, Snow Queen, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, Death of a Salesman, Ghosts (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland); Recoil (On the Verge); Peter Pan, Teenage Kicks (Millennium Forum Derry); Closing Time, The Pride, Kirk Session, The Promised Land, The Last Supper (Blue Eagle Productions); The Wood of the Crows (Playhouse Derry). Television and film credits include: Mercy (Out of Orbit); Dracula Untold (Universal Pictures); First Shall Be Last (Blue Eagle Productions); Spill It (BBC Blast). Radio credits include: Looped (BBC Radio Scotland); Kidnapped (BBC Radio Scotland/Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).
CREATIVE TEAM RONA MUNRO | WRITER Rona has written extensively for stage, radio, film and television including the trilogy The James Plays for the National Theatre of Scotland, The National Theatre of Great Britain and the Edinburgh International Festival. The James Plays won the Evening Standard Best Play and Writer’s Guild Best Play awards in 2015. Other credits include: Scuttlers for Royal Exchange Manchester, Iron which won the John Whiting award in 2003, The Last Witch for Edinburgh International Festival and Little Eagles and The Indian Boy for The Royal Shakespeare Company. Recent television work includes: The Eaters of Light an episode for the tenth series of Dr Who. Film work includes: Oranges and Sunshine directed by Jim Loach and starring Emily Watson and Hugo Weaving, the Ken Loach film Ladybird Ladybird which won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and Aimee and Jaguar Silver Bear winner and Golden Globe nominee. Rona has also written many radio plays including several episodes of The Stanley Baxter Playhouse and is the writing half of The MsFits theatre company.
RICHARD BARON | DIRECTOR Richard is a graduate of St Andrews University, a former Scottish Arts Council Trainee Director at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, and Associate Director of the Perth, Dundee Rep, and Nottingham Playhouse theatres. He is currently Season Director of Pitlochry Festival Theatre, where he has just directed The Monarch of the Glen, and Director of Productions of Firebrand Theatre Company. Notable productions include: a CATS Award-winning production of Iron (Firebrand Theatre Company); Mindgame (London West End); three national tours of the international hit The 39 Steps; UK tours of Travels With My Aunt, Our Man In Havana, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof; Dear Brutus (Nottingham Playhouse); Travesties and Laurel and Hardy (Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh); a CATS and TMA Award-winning production of Look Back In Anger starring David Tennant (Theatre Royal, Bath); and TMA Award winning and nominated productions of Amadeus (Pitlochry Festival Theatre) and The Glass Menagerie and Long Day’s Journey Into Night at Dundee Rep.
NEIL HAYNES | DESIGNER Neil is Scenic Artist at Scottish Opera. Credits include: The Gorbals Vampire, Blackbird, Flora’s Fairy Challenge, Into That Darkness, Eric the Elf’s Chaotic Christmas, Miss Julie, Far Away, Seagulls, Hansel & Gretel, Bauble Trouble, After the End, Top Dog/Underdog, My Name is Rachel Corrie, Grapes of Wrath, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? STUART JENKINS | LIGHTING DESIGNER Stuart has worked in professional theatre for over 30 years and is Head of Lighting and Sound at the Citizens Theatre. He has worked for companies including Theatr Clwyd, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Traverse Theatre, Wildcat, Tron Theatre, Cumbernauld Theatre, TAG and the National Theatre of Scotland. Credits include: One More Sleep ‘til Christmas, The Macbeths, The Gorbals Vampire, Blackbird, Into That Darkness, The Maids, Blasted, The Human Voice, Vernon God Little, Ten Rillington Place, Smoking with Lulu, Krapp’s Last Tape, Shadow of a Gunman, The Grapes of Wrath, Miss Julie (Citizens Theatre); Molly Sweeney (Citizens Theatre/National Theatre of Scotland); Suddenly Last Summer (Theatr Clwyd); Madam Butterfly, Rigoletto (Opera on a Shoestring); Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco, The Lying Kind (Tron Theatre); Dr Ferret’s Bad Medicine Roadshow, On the Rim of the World, Temptations of Tam (Scottish Opera/Citizens Theatre); Betty Blue Eyes, Godspell, Batboy, 9 to 5 (Dance School of Scotland).
JON BEALES | COMPOSER/SOUND DESIGNER Jon has worked for over 25 years in theatre as a composer and musical director. Most recent credits include: Ulysses (Abbey Theatre, Dublin); Grounded (Firebrand Theatre Company); Mary Rose (Pitlochry Festival Theatre). Musical theatre credits range from Richard Taylor’s Whistle Down The Wind (The Byre Theatre) to a re-mount of Glasgow Girls here at the Citizens Theatre (National Theatre of Scotland), and include Flora The Red Menace, Sweeney Todd, Sunshine on Leith (Dundee Rep); Guys & Dolls (Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh); Sundowe (Eden Court, Highland tour); Into The Woods, The Secret Garden, Honk! (The Byre Theatre); and, in 2017, High Society as well as ten previous musicals for Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Since 2013, in collaboration with RJ McConnell, Jon has contributed music to the highly-accoladed son et lumière ‘The Enchanted Forest’ set around Loch Dunmore in Perthshire. Jon’s first appearance at the Citizens was on tour with 7:84 in The Grapes of Wrath, his first commission.
RAYMOND SHORT | FIGHT DIRECTOR Raymond started choreographing fights for his local Karate club at the age of 12. He graduated from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) in 1994, and is now Combat Lecturer and Fight Director for the company. He has choreographed and directed fights all over the UK and abroad, and worked for companies including Citizens Theatre, National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera, Tron Theatre, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Traverse Theatre, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Dundee Rep, Perth Rep, Eden Court, Visible Fictions, Catherine Wheels, Babel Theatre, Royal Court Liverpool and The Courtyard. He has also worked for many other touring companies, youth theatres, colleges and community groups, as well as on screen for the BBC, STV and several independent film companies.
TESS MONRO | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Tess is currently on placement at the Citizens Theatre as part of her MFA in Theatre Directing at Birkbeck University. During her placement Tess has worked as Assistant Director on Cinderella, The Macbeths and Lampedusa. Directing credits include: The History Boys, God of Carnage (The Nottingham New Theatre); 18B (writer and director) (Zoo Venues Edinburgh); The Rehearsal (writer and director), Gorgeous (writer and director)(Paper Productions). She is a founding member of Paper Productions Theatre Company with whom she has worked as a writer and director.
