GEORGE COSTIGAN | PORFIRY PETROVICH / MARMELADOV This is George’s second appearance at the Citizens Theatre. Other stage roles in Scotland include George in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men (The King’s Theatre, Edinburgh), Trust Byron at the 1998 Edinburgh Festival Fringe (nominated for Best Actor), Claudius in Calixto Bietio’s production of Hamlet at the 2006 Festival and David Harrower’s Blackbird at the Tron in 2011. Film credits include: The Hawk, starring Helen Mirren and directed by David Hayman, which premiered at the GFT. George also compered three nights of freestyle wrestling in Aberdeen.
AMIERA DARWISH | DUNYA Amiera has recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Theatre credits whilst training include: The Possibilities, Marianne in Liz Lochheads’s Tartuffe and Viola in Twelfth Night (RCS). Jessica was also a participant in The Sam Wanamaker Festival at the Globe Theatre in April 2013, performing a piece from The Antipodes by Richard Brome. This will be her first professional production since graduating in July 2013.

TV credits include: High Society’s Favourite Gigolo (Channel 4/Maroon Productions).

CREATIVE TEAM CHRIS HANNAN | WRITER Chris Hannan’s plays have been staged by Shakespeare’s Globe, the Old Vic, the National Theatre of Scotland and the RSC. The Evil Doers won the Time Out Award and London Fringe Award for Best Play when produced at the Bush in 1990. Shining Souls won a Scotland on Sunday Critics’ Award at the 1996 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a Lloyds Bank Playwright of the Year nomination. The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain won the 2011 CATS Award for Best New Play and The God of Soho premiered at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2011. Elizabeth Gordon Quinn opened at the Traverse in 1985 and was revived by the National Theatre of Scotland in its inaugural season in 2006. His novel Missy won the Society of Authors’ 2009 McKitterick Prize for a debut.
DOMINIC HILL | DIRECTOR Dominic Hill is Artistic Director of the Citizens Theatre. Since joining the Citizens in 2011, he has directed Far Away & Seagulls, Doctor Faustus, Sleeping Beauty, Krapp’s Last Tape and Footfalls, King Lear and Betrayal (winner of Best Director, 2012 CATS Award) for the theatre. From 2008, he was Artistic Director of the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. Prior to this he worked at Dundee Rep where he was Associate Director and Joint Artistic Director from 2003. Other credits include Falstaff and Macbeth (Scottish Opera) and The City Madam (Royal Shakespeare Company). He has directed in theatres in London and throughout the UK.
COLIN RICHMOND | DESIGNER Colin trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. First Class BA Hons. Linbury Prize Finalist. Colin has designed for many theatres throughout the UK and in London. CHRIS DAVEY | LIGHTING DESIGNER Chris has designed extensively for Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Shared Experience, Royal Court, Royal Exchange Manchester, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Birmingham Rep and Hampstead Theatre. He has won three CATS in Scotland Best Design Awards for Anna Karenina at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, and Beauty and the Beast and Peer Gynt at Dundee Rep. He also won the TMA Best Lighting Design for Dial M for Murder (West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Beyond the Horizon (Royal & Derngate, Northampton). Recent theatre designs in Scotland include: Betrayal (Citizens Theatre); Takin’ Over the Asylum (Citizens Theatre/Royal Lyceum); Beauty and the Beast, The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Royal Lyceum); Anna Karenina (Dundee Rep); The Last Witch, Three Thousand Troubled Threads (Edinburgh International Festival); The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain, Pornography (Traverse); One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Levelland (Assembly Rooms); The Vagina Monologues (Edinburgh Playhouse); Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man (Edinburgh Festival Theatre) and The Lord of the Flies (Theatre Royal, Glasgow).
NIKOLA KODJABASHIA | COMPOSER AND SOUND DESIGNER Nikola Kodjabashia is considered to be one of the most eminent representatives of the Balkan and Eastern European musical avant-garde today. Theatre credits include: composing and conducting for Sir Peter Hall and Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s Bacchai (National Theatre), the internationally acclaimed Kafka’s Monkey (Young Vic), The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain (ETT/Traverse), Wajdi Mouawad’s Scorched (Old Vic), Wedding Day of the Cro Magnons (Soho Theatre/Dialogue Productions), Helter Skelter/Land of the Dead, music for Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Qu’ran (Bush Theatre/ Dialogue Productions) and the Olivier award-winning Jonathan Kent’s production of Hecuba (Donmar Warehouse). Commissions include: scores for La Biennale di Venezia 2004, BBC Singers 2010, National Theatre 2002/3, Macedonian National Opera and Ballet 2013, Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra 2009, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble 1999. LUCIEN MACDOUGALL & BENEDICTE SEIERUP | MOVEMENT DIRECTORS Benedicte and Lucien both trained at Guildford School of Acting and under Jacques Lecoq in Paris. They have worked as actors, devisers, movement tutors and movement directors over several years and in many countries. They are currently movement tutors at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
