HEAR MY VOICE

INTRODUCTION Pupils from Alexandra Parade Primary School and Whitehill Secondary School in Glasgow have been participating in a project called HEAR MY VOICE with the Citizens Theatre. The pupils have taken part in fun drama, creative writing and storytelling activities with staff from the theatre’s Learning team. Initially the pupils worked in separate groups, then all three groups joined up and participated together. The pupils encouraged each other, learned from each other and enjoyed working collaboratively. This book contains photographs and pieces of writing that were created during the academic year 2019 - 2020. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the wonderful pupils and staff on this project! MY PLACE, MY SPACE

THE GOOD

THE BAD

There are good places to eat

There’s always dog poo on the pavement

Football pitches where I meet my friends

At night you can hear drunk people shouting on the street

I can see the RAPA from my window There are always balls stuck in the nettles at the park to play with When they have festivals at Glasgow Green I can watch from my window

When you are out walking there are scary back lanes with no lights Late at night people sometimes press your buzzer and it wakes you up There is lots of litter on the street

You can find lots of places to climb It’s easy to find things you’ve lost

You have to walk up lots of stairs to get anywhere The buses take ages to arrive

The shop sells good sweets There are too many dogs

THE PIRATE SHIP

Written by Andrew, Ethan and Salman Once upon a time, a pirate ship jumped on board somebody else’s ship and then stole a treasure chest and a key. The ship then broke down, and they got stuck in the middle of the sea. Then there was a hole in the boat. The boat started to sink. The pirates decided to open the chest with a key. Inside they found a dead rat and a giant rubber ring. They took the ring out and used it to float to the shore. On the way home, they found a dolphin and took it home. They put the dolphin in a big swimming pool. The dolphin loved living at the swimming pool because he had lots of space to swim, and the pirates fed him lots of fish and seeds.

Another customer who was in the shop noticed what was happening. His name was Bob Cole. He’d been in to buy a shovel. Bob Cole gave the gardener a rose and said, ‘eat this.’ So he ate it after a few minutes the garden felt amazing, his pain was gone.
