MOLLY INNES | THEA STANGL Molly trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly known as RSAMD). Theatre credits include: work at Traverse Theatre; The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh; Dundee Rep; TAG; Suspect Culture; Boilerhouse; Perth Theatre; Stellar Quines Theatre Company; Babel Theatre; Borderline Theatre Company; the National Theatre of Scotland and The Royal Court Theatre. She was nominated for Best Actress at The Stage Awards for Acting Excellence for Moving Objects (Brunton Theatre), was nominated for a CATS award for One Day All This Will Come to Nothing (Traverse Theatre) and received a commendation at the Ian Charleson/National Theatre Awards for Electra (Babel).
CREATIVE TEAM GITTA SERENY | JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR OF INTO THAT DARKNESS Gitta Sereny, CBE (13 March 1921 – 14 June 2012) was an Austrian-born biographer, historian, and investigative journalist who came to be known for her interviews and profiles of controversial figures. Among her best-known books are Into That Darkness (1974), Albert Speer: His Battle With Truth (1995) and Cries Unheard: Why Children Kill (1998) about Mary Bell, an Englishwoman who as a girl in the 1960s murdered two young boys. Sereny was awarded the Duff Cooper Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for her book on Albert Speer in 1995, and the Stig Dagerman Prize in 2002. She was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2004 for services to journalism.
ROBERT DAVID MACDONALD | AUTHOR OF STAGE ADAPTION Robert David MacDonald (27 August 1929 – 19 May 2004) was a Scottish playwright, translator and theatre director. He was one of the three artistic leaders of the Citizens Theatre from 1971 – 2003 during the period when the Citizens first became famous around the world for innovative productions of classic texts and challenging new works. During his time at the Citizens Theatre, he directed fifty productions and wrote fifteen plays for the company including The De Sade Show (1975), Chinchilla (1977), Summit Conference (1978), A Waste of Time (1980), Don Juan (1980), Webster (1983), In Quest of Conscience (1994), Britannicus (2002) and Cheri (2003).
GARETH NICHOLLS | DIRECTOR Gareth trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and currently holds the two-year post of Main Stage Director in Residence at the Citizens Theatre (formerly in partnership with Untitled Projects). He is co-Artistic Director of new work company Utter and as a freelance director has worked with most theatres in Scotland. His directing credits include Into That Darkness by Gitta Sereny (Citizens Theatre); The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot by Oliver Emanuel (Macrobert Arts Centre/The Arches), Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas (Tron Theatre), Donald Robertson Is Not A Stand-Up Comedian by Gary McNair (Traverse Theatre), Voices From The Black That I Am by Karl O’Brian Williams (Òran Mór/the National Theatre of Scotland) and Fringe First winner Educating Ronnie by Joe Douglas/Gareth Nicholls (Utter). Gareth is also an Associate Artist of Company of Angels, London, while previously he’s been a National Theatre of Scotland Emerging Artist and an Imaginate Artist in Residence.

STUART JENKINS | LIGHTING DESIGNER Stuart Jenkins has worked in professional theatre for over 25 years and is Head of Lighting and Sound at the Citizens Theatre. He has worked for companies including Theatr Clwyd; Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh; Traverse; Wildcat; Tron Theatre; Cumbernauld Theatre; TAG and the National Theatre of Scotland. Lighting credits include: Molly Sweeney (Citizens Theatre/the National Theatre of Scotland); Miss Julie, The Maids, Blasted, The Human Voice, Vernon God Little, Ten Rillington Place, Smoking with Lulu, Krapp’s Last Tape, Shadow of a Gunman, The Grapes of Wrath (Citizens Theatre); Suddenly Last Summer (Theatr Clwyd); Madam Butterfly, Rigoletto (Opera on a Shoestring); Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco (Tron Theatre); Dr Ferret’s Bad Medicine Roadshow, On the Rim of the World, Temptations of Tam (Scottish Opera/Citizens Theatre); Betty Blue Eyes (Dance School of Scotland) and forthcoming Dance School of Scotland musical Godspell.
MICHAEL JOHN MCCARTHY | COMPOSER/MUSICAL DIRECTOR Michael John is a Cork-born, Glasgow-based composer and musician. Work for performance includes: Fever Dream: Southside, Sports Day (Citizens Theatre); In Time O’ Strife, Blabbermouth, The Tin Forest, The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, Truant and Dolls (the National Theatre of Scotland); Letters Home, The Authorised Kate Bane (Grid Iron); The BFG, Steel Magnolias (Dundee Rep); Bright Black, The Not-So-Fatal Death of Grandpa Fredo (Vox Motus); Bondagers (Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh); Under Milk Wood (Tron Theatre); Glory (Janice Parker Projects); The Winter’s Tale (People’s Light & Theatre, Philadelphia). Other companies he has worked with include The Arches, Lung Ha’s, Macrobert Arts Centre, Platform, Playgroup, Theatre Uncut, Utter and Youth Music Theatre UK. He has toured internationally with Zoey Van Goey, Aidan Moffat and Lord Cut-Glass. He has played on records by RM Hubbert, Jo Mango, Alasdair Roberts and Trembling Bells/Bonnie Prince Billy.
STEPHEN DARCY | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Stephen Darcy is a director and actor. He trained at Birkbeck MFA Directing (2013-2015); RADA (1998-2001) and Trinity College Dublin (1994-1998). Director credits include: Rum and Vodka (Citizens Theatre); Richard III (RADA Enterprises Ltd); The Magic (Soho Theatre & 503); Chelsea Hotel (RADA Festival); The Taste of Tears (The Nursery). He has worked as Assistant Director on Dominic Hill’s productions of Fever Dream: Southside and A Christmas Carol. As an actor he has performed in the Abbey, Olympia, Project in Dublin, The West End, The Bush, The Finborough and 503 as well as many roles in TV, film and radio.
