GERRY McCLORY ALAN McHUGH |  RICH WALDON Alan trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) and since graduating in 1991, has worked at home and worldwide with the all country’s leading theatre companies including the Citizens Theatre, National Theatre Of Scotland, The Traverse, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, The Tron, The Arches, Wildcat, Borderline, Perth Rep, Dundee Rep, and 7:84. Television credits include double Bafta winning Limmy’s Show, Taggart, four years on STV soap High Road, Outlander, Still Game, Scot Squad, River City, Rab C Nesbit and Dear Green Place. For the Citizens, as a writer, Alan was commissioned to write their Christmas shows: Cinderella (2009), Hansel & Gretel (2010), Beauty and the Beast (2011), and contributed to Sports Day (2014). 2018 has already seen him write and appear in It’s Behind You for A Play, A Pie And A Pint; feature in two short films, and will narrate Shetland children’s opera Jan Tait and the Bear at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

A Night To Remember features a cast made up of people who participate in the many drama activities and groups run by the Citizens Theatre as well as people from the local area, from across the city and beyond. This will be the final Citizens Theatre production before we move out of our home in the Gorbals to enable a major redevelopment to take place. During the two-year redevelopment period our programme of drama activities and classes will continue as usual at Scotland Street School Museum.


CREATIVE TEAM PETER ARNOTT |  WRITER Peter was born in Glasgow in 1962. He began his career as a playwright at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in May 1985 with White Rose. That same month his play The Boxer Benny Lynch opened in Glasgow Arts Centre. He is the writer of some 40 professionally produced stage plays including the award winning The Breathing House and Why Do You Stand There in the Rain? He has written several community shows for the Citizens Theatre including House of Murders and Nighthawks. He has been Writer in Residence at The National Library of Scotland as well as at the Genomic Forum and IASH at Edinburgh University. Recent work includes: Face – Isobel and Morag for A Play Pie and a Pint at Òran Mór and Mull Theatre, and Janis Joplin Full Tilt at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, as well as an adaptation of Monarch of the Glen at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. His first novel, Moon Country, was published by Vagabond Voices in 2015. GUY HOLLANDS |  DIRECTOR Guy is the Citizens Theatre’s Associate Director (Citizens Learning). NEIL PACKHAM |  DIRECTOR Neil is the Citizens Theatre’s Community Drama Director. CARLY McCAIG |  ENSEMBLE CO-ORDINATOR Carly is the Citizens Theatre's Community Drama Worker.

RICHARD EVANS  | DESIGNER Richard works throughout the UK and Internationally designing drama, musical theatre, opera and dance. He is the Associate Designer of New English Opera. Current and Upcoming work: Guess How Much I Love You (West End and International Tour); Look Up (UK Tour); Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland); The Snow Queen (Dundee Rep). Theatre credits: Come Hell or High Water (Citizens Theatre); Art, Outside Mullingar (Vienna’s English Theatre); Seussical (West End and International Tour); A Christmas Carol, Love Song, Little Red and The Wolf (Dundee Rep); One More Sleep ‘til Christmas, 9to5, Into The Woods, Addams Family (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland); The Girl Who (Noisemaker); The Seagull (York Theatre Royal). National Touring credits: Bring On The Bollywood (2017); A Streetcar Named Desire (2017); Avenue Q (20142016); Democracy (2016); Spectretown (2015); Jekyll and Hyde (2015); Kidnapped (2014). Opera and Dance credits include: Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel (HighTime Opera/ Belgrade Theatre, Coventry); Sharing Stages (Chickenshed). FINN ANDERSON |  COMPOSER Finn studied Music before completing an MA in Musical Theatre Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. Musical theatre writing includes: Come Hell or High Water (Citizens Theatre); Streets (Hackney Empire/The Cockpit -‘Best New Musial’ Off West End Awards nominee); Alba (Edinburgh Festival Fringe - MTN Award nominee); Wolf (Tristan Bates). Upcoming: Legacy - A Mother’s Song (Assembly/Royal Conservatoire of Scotland/ American Music Theatre Project). Music for theatre includes: Buckets, The Birds, Southside Stories (Citizens Young Co); One More Sleep ‘til Christmas (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland); Look Up, Moonfall (Hikapee Circus); Jellyfish (Intrepid/International Youth Arts Festival); Fandom (Youth Music Theatre UK); Forbidden (Scottish Youth Theatre); Cat Loud’s Big Night In (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, UK Tour); The Iguanodon Queen (Bush Theatre); Slingshot (Park Theatre); Foreplay (The Cockpit). Upcoming work: Lilith/Ring The Bells (Giants). Other work includes commissions with Venice Biennale Art Festival, Tate Britain, Glasgow Film Festival and Scottish Dance Theatre.


JEN EDGAR |  MOVEMENT Jen is a theatre maker who works with people of all ages with a focus on movement direction and physical dramaturgy. On graduation she began work with The National Theatre of Scotland as an Emerging Artist where she assisted on a number of productions. Theatre credits include: Come Hell or High Water, This is What We Ask (Citizens Theatre); Walls (National Theatre of Scotland); Lost Property, Happy Happy Happy (The Arches); The Beast of Tweedmouth West (Visible Fictions); First Light/Yarla and the Winter Wood (Starcatchers); My Fabulous Tartan Frock, 80.1, Endurance (A Moments Peace Theatre Company); Share My Table (Scottish Refugee Council /Tramway). GEORGE NICHOLS |  ASSISTANT DIRECTOR George is currently on placement at the Citizens Theatre as part of his MFA in Theatre Directing at Birkbeck University. He is a drama graduate from the University of Bristol. Assistant Directing credits include: Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Trainspotting (Citizens Theatre); Faithful Ruslan: The Story of a Guard Dog (Citizens Theatre/Belgrade Theatre Coventry); One More Sleep ‘til Christmas (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland); Eventide (Arcola Theatre/Up in Arms). Directing credits include: Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons (Citizens Theatre); Oddity (Edinburgh Festival Fringe/Chapter Arts Centre); The Allotment (Alma Theatre, Bristol); Entertaining Mr Sloane, Zoo Story (University of Bristol). George is one of the founding directors of the Cardiff Fringe Festival, which offers a platform for the arts at a local, national and international level.
