Mural Theme
In connection with the building's name, which is "The Royal Poinciana," we ask that the design features the poinciana tree ( in similar style to the highwaymen artwork). The artistic style should be inspired by the Highwaymen artistts or in a similar fashion such as classical artwork. The final product should encourage viewers to remember the Highwaymen artists and their significant influence in Fort Pierce, FL. Please keep in mind that you have the option to create a design for either or both wall spaces (areas outlined in red), but only one wall will be chosen.
We suggest using this sample image of B.B. King as your primary design inspiration for the mural. However, don't feel restricted to creating an exact replica. Use your creativity to come up with something original and unique.

The theme for this mural project is "Moving Through Time," inspired by the rich history of Fort Pierce. Applicants are encouraged to draw inspiration from significant events, people, accomplishments, and landmarks that have shaped the city. For instance, Fort Pierce was initially incorporated in 1901 and was a significant producer in the fishing and pineapple industries. Additionally, the philanthropist and businessman Edwin Binney, the founder of Crayola Crayons, made a substantial impact in the city as a resident. Applicants should do their due diligence in researching the city’s history to determine what they’d like to use in their designs.
The mural will be painted on the 684 ft long wall facing east towards the ocean, along the Indian River Drive roadway, as highlighted in red in the image above. Given its strategic location, the design should provide a unique experience for motorists as they drive passed it. The viewer should be taken through a journey of the city's history, in chronological order, as they follow the events depicted in the mural.
