Northbridge Piazza Community Centre: Cnr James & Lake St, Northbridge To celebrate the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead, a display of the traditional altars for the Dead will be erected in the community building at the Northbridge Piazza, and on the wall behind the Piazza screen. The altar is like a welcoming portal for beloved departed who come back for one night to share food and drink with friends and family in a celebration of life. With this long-standing, much loved Mexican tradition, dead is not the end, it is just a continuation. Construction: 12 noon on 26 Oct. Open for viewing 6.30pm – 8.30pm on 30 Oct, 31 Oct, 1 Nov. VAN GOGH, DALI & BEYOND MAKE YOUR OWN MASK 25 Oct – 3 Nov Art Gallery of WA: Perth Cultural Centre The Van Gogh, Dalí & Beyond exhibition from New York’s Museum of Modern Art is now on. For the week of the festival, each ticket purchased to the exhibition gives you a free make-your-own macabre mask activity for kids inspired by Salvador Dalí’s darker works. You can also find it in the kids’ pack on sale for $13 (normally $13.95) which also includes badges, activity sheets and Nano blocks. Just mention Carnival Macabre to redeem the offers.

Hip-Hop dance and street fashion – now with a Halloween theme! The aim of Rock the Bridge is to raise public awareness of what’s happening in your neighbourhood. There will be stalls selling food, street fashion and wares. Hosted by MC Rami, dance acts include Clique crew, CDA, Unbreakables, Tridogy and Cop KM. Performers include Jeremiah Morgan, Bsyde, Da Fisher Boys, Emcee Trooth, DJ Karl Blue and Angry Budda.
CRAFT MACABRE Sun 27 Oct, 11am-5pm Montage Pop-Up Shop: 224b William St, Northbridge Join in the party atmosphere as this pop-up shop offering designs and homewares by WA artists gets into the Halloween spirit. There will be a 10% discount store-wide and a variety of spooky themed items made by local creative talent on sale. Perth artists will be there in costume for demonstrations and to answer questions about their craft process and techniques and there will be trick or treat lollies and refreshments for all.
