MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME Part 2 Pastor Kent Sermon 9-13-15 Genesis 17:1-6 NKJV When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV 16

All Scripture is inspired by God k and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Peter 1:20-21 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Introduction: The biggest lies and obstacles to our faith are the beliefs that God is not enough, and his Word is not enough. The Bible is the No. 1 Best Seller of all time! It is the most illegal book in the world, the most stolen book, and the most controversial. We need to expand our Christian worldview to a Christian WORDview.

Main Text:

1. The Bible is AMAZING! GOD SPOKE‌‌MEN WROTE - All scripture is sacred and inspired by God. - The Bible consists of 66 books written by 40 men over 1500 years.

- Jesus quoted Scripture when He spoke. He even responded to temptation with Scripture. - Other religious texts do not even come close in comparison to the Bible’s breath of authors and time. Buddhism keeps and observes the record of one mans teachings. Islam’s Koran is the compiled writings of one man after he died. PROPHECY IS AMAZING: -Isaiah and Micah Prophesied 700 years before Jesus was born. Isaiah prophesied the Virgin Birth, and Micah prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. -David prophesied Jesus’s death by crucifixion 1,000 years before it occurred and 500 years before anyone had ever been crucified, and he describes it in detail. -Daniel in 500 BC prophesied about an empire that dominates the world, then will suddenly be cut off and divided into four, which will become two and then one before the Messiah comes. In 300 BC, Alexander the Great conquers the World, but at 32 suddenly dies. His empire is split between his four Generals into separate empires. The four become two (the Solucid and Tolemaic Empires), and then the two become one – the Roman

Empire. Then Jesus is born. Historians are confounded by Daniel’s writing. -According to Dr. Bruce Metzler Princeton Theological Seminary, of the 20,000 lines contained in the New Testament, 99.6 % has been corroborated by other historical documents. -It has been 2,000 years since Christ has come and 3500 years since the inscripturation process. No book has been more studied or scrutinized. -Professor Emeritus of Science at Westmont College, Peter Stoner, had twelve of his classes (600 students) calculate the mathematic odds of the Messianic prophesies being fulfilled. There are over 50 prophecies about Jesus in the Bible, and eight are confirmed in history without the Bible. -Jesus Being Born in Bethlehem: 1 in 300,000 Chance. Their calculations didn’t even take into account that Jesus’s parents didn’t live in Bethlehem. -Their results were submitted and verified by the American Scientific Association as dependable and accurate according to scientific standards. -The odds that someone could fulfill all 8 prophesies:

1 in 10 …….to the 17th power! (1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000!!!

2. We know the Author personally. John 5:39 – You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; [NASB] John 1:14 – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. [NKJV] Jesus was raised from the Dead. 500 saw it. History confirms it. 2,000 years archeologists have never found His BODY.

How did Jesus ARRANGE... To be born into a specific family? To be born into a specific city? His own death? His executioners to gamble for his clothing? To be betrayed in advance? His executioners to break the legs of the two guys next to him and not his? To die on the exact day the Jews sacrifice a

spotless lamb for the sins? To resurrect on the exact day he said he would? > Because he was God incarnate.

Conclusion: God’s Word has been tested and tried. If he said it, you can count on it. His Word never fails. He is more than enough, and His Word is more than enough.
