AIMS AND CONTEXT SHEET This handout is designed to get you to commit to your Creative Project idea. Successful Creative Projects are characterised by having thorough pre-production planning. This includes character development and motivation, integration of generic features and codes and conventions (which can be in the form of a parody or pastiche of established generic features e.g. Scary Movie and Scream) and detailed consideration of the key MICRO features of film and how they can be best applied to your Creative Project. I want to create a pastiche of the Film Noir genre Short outline of your Creative Project
I want to create a short film. I am really interested in Film Noir and I want to try to recreate the tone and atmosphere of films like Double Indemnity (Wilder, 1944) in my Creative Project. My target audience will recognise the MICRO codes and conventions I will employ in my film. However I want to adopt a postmodern stance, by offering a pastiche of Film Noir. Instead of the traditional femme-fatale, my film will have a male-fatale and a homoerotic storyline that will subvert established Film Noir conventions.
