HARBOUR POOL Construction STARTED August 7th!

WE ARE

IMPROVING! IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE:

POOL CLOSED Dec 1/18 to Jan 31/19 to finalize the project.

• Facility cleaning • Lifecycle maintenance and replacement projects • Preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment

The new improved

POOL REOPENS February 1st

• Re-tiling of women’s and men’s change rooms • Universal change room

with the regular winter schedule in effect.

UNIVERSAL CHANGE ROOM OVERVIEW: The universal change room addition is part of a two phase process to modernize the Harbour Pool. It is a unique and inclusive approach to create a gender neutral space. This short term modernization project at Harbour Pool identifies three key reasons why the change room is needed. 1. For residents who require assistance changing or have accessibility needs 2. For families who have older children who require assistance from a parent/caregiver 3. For residents who require a gender neutral change area The City of Fort Saskatchewan always strives to meet the needs of as many residents as possible and to provide services to the ever changing population as we grow. Currently we are not able to do that within the Harbour Pool space. By adding a universal change room, residents will be able to use the facility without having to access staff change room and offices and create a positive experience for all patrons at the facility.

HAPPY HIPS YOGA Hips are magnificent joints, designed to move in 6 different ways. However, due to stress and lifestyle they are often a source of pain and stiffness. This class will use movements designed to open the hips in order to bring balance and flexibility to this important area of the body. Come and feel the joy of happy hips.

HATHA YIN You will learn the sequences of asanas and postures designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. Restore and gain flexibility, strengthen & tone. Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation, bringing your attention to your breath, helping to still the mind and be more present. Yin Yoga has come to be known as 'the quiet yet profound yoga practice'. Bringing balance with the experience of centering inside, quieting the mind, letting the connective tissues gently release, and allowing greater flexibility then you have ever felt. Relax and enjoy the benefits of two yoga styles in one class.

REALIGNMENT YOGA This realignment class will correct problems such as pain in your shoulders, hips, knees, ankles due to misalignment. This class may help to realign allowing your body to bring you back to full mobility. No previous yoga experience is required and anyone, teens through seniors, may participate in this program.

RESTORATIVE YIN YOGA A slow deep class where you can relax and recharge. Yin yoga with a focus on poses that are restorative allowing us to let go of long held tensions that manifest physically and mentally.

VINYASA BALANCE Revitalize your body, relax your mind, and reduce stress with invigorating standing vinyasa flows and floor asanas(poses) to increase strength, flexibility and balance. This class is appropriate for all levels with modifications and variations throughout sequences. Energize your mind body and spirit while creating a moving meditation in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

YIN / YANG YOGA

NIDRA YOGA

Yin Yang yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practicebringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures. The practice of Yin/Yang yoga helps us to learn stillness in movement and the flow in stillness.

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. An hour of Yoga Nidra can be as restorative as four hours of regular sleep. Some benefits of this practice include: ease insomnia, decrease anxiety, alleviate stress. Reduce PTSD, chronic pain and chemical dependency, heighten awareness and focus. Transform negative habits, behaviours and ways of thinking as you foster feelings of peace, calm, and clarity. Yoga Nidra is practiced lying down so bring your mats, blankets and pillows and come relax with us.
