A NOTE FROM

THE CO-FOUNDER Dear Readers, Welcome to the second issue of City Image. As we journey forward, I’m immensely grateful for the bond we’ve started forging since our first edition. Your support and engagement breathe life into our pages, making every issue a labor of love and commitment. In this edition, I wanted to introduce you to a philosophy that has profoundly influenced my personal and professional journey: Stoicism. This isn’t just a cerebral exercise for us; it’s an intimate reflection of the core values that guide City Image. Stoicism speaks to us about embracing life’s unpredictability, honing our focus on our actions and reactions, and perpetually seeking growth. It teaches that our viewpoint, more often than not, dictates our response to challenges. With a resilient mindset, any obstacle becomes surmountable. One cannot discuss Stoicism without acknowledging the indomitable spirit of Marcus Aurelius. He wasn’t just a Roman Emperor; he was a beacon of Stoic practice. His writings, known to us as ‘Meditations’, were not for the world to see. They were intimate musings, reflecting the ethos of a leader who practiced what he preached, even under the immense pressures of his role. While Stoicism emphasizes resilience, it also humbly acknowledges our imperfections. It doesn’t chase an unattainable ideal but promotes understanding and managing our emotions, ensuring our reactions are considered rather than impulsive. Through City Image, our hope is to provide more than just articles—it’s to offer roadmaps, like the teachings of Stoicism, that can guide us in the tumultuous times of the modern world. It’s about focusing on what truly matters and seeking wisdom, old and new, to navigate our lives better. Thank you for joining us on this journey. Here’s to growth, understanding, and many more enlightening editions of City Image. Warm regards,

Izak Orero Izak Orero Co-Founder, City Image

Communicate, Don’t Complicate: The Unspoken Rules of the Barbershop

TRUST IN THE PROCESS As the old saying goes, “A watched pot never boils.” Similarly, continually checking the mirror during a haircut can not only disrupt the flow of the barber but also increase your own anxiety. Remember, you’ve chosen this barber for their expertise.

OPEN DIALOGUE OVER CONSTANT CHECKING We know you wanna see how your haircut is coming along, but please don’t break your neck looking for the mirror. Constantly checking can send mixed signals,

CURLY HAIR SHORT CURLS First we are going with a taper with the short curls of about 1 1/2 - 2 inches on top. The taper on the sides and neck add a nice element of a clean look to go along with the natural laying of the curls. You can go natural or sharp for your edge up edge up depending on your preference. With this look you can’t go wrong.

LONG CURLS Style number 3 is Long curls. Show them off by growing them out. We suggest 12-14 inches so that you get a full even look. With this style you are definitely gonna leave an impression on anyone you meet.

DROP FADE Style number 2 is a Drop fade with 2-3 inch curls on top. The drop fade is gonna allow you a clean transition of color contrast between hair and scalp as well as creating a good shape for the curls to lay on top of. This look is great for those who want a haircut that will grow nicely.

THE EVOLUTION OF EXCELLENCE: I.M.A.G.E ACADEMY CONTINUING JOURNEY

At the heart of City Image is a belief that growth never stops, and our core values of “win together” and “stay hungry” echo this spirit. The I.M.A.G.E Academy, our beacon for continuous learning, stands as a living testament to these values. Our recent sessions highlighted just how we “win together.” When our leadership team united, sharing insights and learning, it became evident that success is a collective effort. The camaraderie and synergy of leaders coming together ensured that City Image’s direction is both united and forward-thinking.

“Stay hungry” is epitomized in our advanced scissor class. As our barbers dive deeper into their craft, their thirst for knowledge and perfection remains unquenched. Their drive to elevate their skills not only benefits their personal growth but also sets new benchmarks for the industry. What’s notable is that few in our industry can claim to have such dedicated internal education. While our program may not be flawless, our commitment is unwavering. We recognize there’s room for improvement, and

with our growth mindset, we are poised to refine and expand the I.M.A.G.E Academy continually. Both sessions were a testament to I.M.A.G.E Academy’s dedication to professional evolution. Each training, each shared idea, is a step toward ensuring City Image doesn’t just follow industry standards – we aim to set them. Our gratitude goes out to the educators and learners who are the heartbeat of this journey. As the Academy grows, we remain focused on turning potential into tangible excellence.
