fter a heartful breakfast at some South Indian tiffin center, you can head to The Golconda Fort, one of the most magnificent fortresses in our country that once housed the Kohinoor and Hope Diamonds.Built around 800 years ago, this mammoth structure is a mark of architectural excellence.
Next you can visit QutubShahi Tombs, which is a kilometre away from the Golconda Fort. These tombs are a true testimony to the craftsmanship of the QutubShahi artisans. These tombs are actually dedicated to the seven QutubShahi kings of Golconda. These tombs display Hindu, Persian, and Pathan forms of architectures that are influenced by Deccani structural ideas. After spending some time here, you can drive down to Necklace Road (when seen from the sky, the entire road resembles a beautiful necklace) and relax, you can get a breath-taking view of the splendid HussainSagar Lake built in 1562 by a saint to meet the water and irrigation needs of the city with a huge monolithic statue of Gautam Buddha erected in 1992.

he last day of your trip should be reserved to visit the ‘Old City’ which is home to some famous tourist attractions located at a close distance from each other.
The Falaknuma Palace(means Star of Heaven in Urdu), a perfect blend of Italian and Tudor architecture, and offers a scenic view of the entire city. The palace is constructed in the shape of a giant scorpion and made out of Italian marble. It was constructed by NawabVikarul-Umra, former Prime Minister of Hyderabad, who generously gifted this 939,712 square meter palaceit to the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mahboob Ali Khan Siddiqi (just because he liked you’re your next destination should be the Chowmahella Palace, which means Four Palaces, is a replica of the Shah of Iran’s palace in Tehran. This magnificent edifice, around 200 years old, houses spectacular domes, a clock tower, a council hall, arches which has influences from the Persian architecture. A perfect marriage of southern and northern architecture, the Birla Mandiris located in Kala Pahad, a small hillock in Hyderabad. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, also known as Balaji in South India. People with geeky glasses shouldn’t miss the Birla Science Museum, which was opened in 1990 to educate the masses about the fundamentals of science in a manner that is interactive, exciting and fresh.
A holy visit to the magnificent Mecca Masjid is an absolute must. The mosque, whose arches are adorned with sermons from the Quran, can, at any given time, hold 10,000 faithful worshippers. It took them 77 years to complete the monument. Also, the name came about because legend has it that Muhammed Quli (the person who built it) commissioned some of the bricks in the walls of its main arch from Mecca. You also have the Salar Jung Museum touted as having the largest one-man antique collection in the world, located in the southern bank of the Musi River. With over 43,000 objects of art, 47,000 printed books, and 9,000 manuscripts, the museum is anabsolute paradise for scholars and art connoisseurs. All you animal lovers can take a safari at the Nehru Zoological Park; a wildlife sanctuary situated 16 kilometres from Hyderabad in the Bahadurpur area. Spread over 300 acres it houses about 1,500 species of birds, animals and reptiles. The best way to end your trip is by visiting the magnificent Charminar; built in 1591; a fitting testament to the Hindu and Islam-influenced culture of Hyderabad. The place has several legends to its creation; one of them holds that a secret tunnel runs underneath the monument that connects the palace at Golconda to the tunnel should the royal family need to escape but so far, no such tunnels have been found. Don’t forget to do some shopping at Laad Bazaarto de-stress yourself, which is located very close to Charminar. Make a statement
with a trendy
neckpiece (women) A great necklace is enough to make the right kind of fashion statement. Stylish and trendy neckpieces are found everywhere, just leave your inhibition at home and pick up some crazy pieces.
I
t’s very easy to go wrong while picking that perfect neckpiece for your beautiful outfit. Here are a few tips to help you find the right piece that accentuates your look.
Striking colors
Many of us play it safe when it comes to selection of a neckpiece for a plain crew neck, tee-shirt or round neck top. We simply prefer a long chain with a pendant. Try picking up a pendent with striking color – a gold collar or a neon bib neckpiece works really well. Remember to wear small earrings or you can simply skip them all together.
Choker
A lovely choker can match perfectly with your strapless top or dress.
Layered chains
Layered chains are the in thing. Long strings of beads or a mix of overlapping trinket chains look stunning on boat necks. If you are not too happy with the layering idea then keep your look simple with feather earrings or extensions.
Simple yet elegant
Wear a floral motif neckpiece or an art deco necklace when wearing a button-down shirt. Look elegant at your work place by wearing a delicate neckpiece with earrings that compliment it. Try picking something of neon and pastel shades, they work best when paired with simple stud earrings and a colored necklace that contrasts the outfits but matches your shoes.
Common necklines
Scoops, V-necks and cowls are some of the common necklines you will likely find in any woman’s closet. You can always pair a crochet necklace with your scoop top. Almost everything works for these necklines. Go trendy, wear a long beaded chain, a chunky neckpiece or a short beaded chain. These necklines go well with chandelier earrings or simple hoops. Try experimenting and choose some contrasting colors, mix and match to spike your look. Use bright faux gems, neon and layered chains and get the most from them.

Memories

Reflections
A
HYDERABAD
n exhibition of paintings by famed painter P. Rajasekhar called ‘Memories & Reflections- An expression of Jamais Vu’ was held in the city last month. The collection depicted an expression of ‘Jamais Vu’, meaning –unfamiliar to a situation though it has been experienced before. Memories & Reflections reflected the depth of painter’s imagination of the situation as he experienced scenes and thought he was in a situation before yet felt new and different at all times. Fourteen exclusive (oil on canvas) paintings were presented at the show. These oil paintings showed the lives of fishermen, their celebrations, culture and festivals. The painting exhibition was a once in a lifetime experience for all the viewers. After spending thirteen years in the field of animation, he returned to his first love: painting. He chose to observe and participate in the socio-cultural changes and give a feeling of Jamais Vu to the viewer. Before his work on ‘Memories and Reflections’ began, he actually visited various places to study them. Though he has had a long association with the fishermen and the Garaga performers, he chose to create visuals of these people drawing them from the depths of his own memory. Speaking about his fascination for fisherman and their culture, Mr. Rajasekhar added, “My fascination for the lives of the fisherman was the reason I chose this subject for my paintings and added different thought process and so manifesting physically in the work”. Having studied at the National Institute of Design gave him a different perspective on how to look at things. He tried reconstructing the emotional/vocal content along with stored components, involving elaborations, distortions and omissions. His paintings have a sepia-like browning of the background in contrast to the bright and colourful foreground. It gives the viewer a stop-motion photographic frame effect and allows him to imagine the background dancing with the never-ending changes. Many prominent personalities from the Film Industry were left mesmerized by the painting. Putting it succinctly, one of the guests at the exhibition concludes saying, “These paintings depict life and I am hypnotized by the depth of the images. The colors used for contrast have spellbound me”.

Hamilton Pan Europ H-30

amilton introduces a contemporary version of its Hamilton Pan Europ, one of the very first wristwatches equipped with an automatic chronograph movement, introduced in 1971. The new three-hand Pan Europ H-30 debuts with a modern-day movement boasting an 80-hour power reserve. The original Hamilton Pan Europ model contained the legendary Caliber 11 self-winding chronograph movement, co-developed with Breitling and Heuer (today’s TAG Heuer) on a base movement from Buren. This movement was also found in such now-iconic early automatic chronograph watches as the Heuer Monaco, HeuerAutavia, and BreitlingChrono-Matic. Hamilton Pan Europ watches from this era are now considered collectors’ items by many. Current Hamilton Pan Europ chronographs use the ETA-produced H31 movement, which has a power reserve of 60 hours. This new version upgrades to the new Caliber H30, which does not have a chronograph function but lengthens that power reserve by nearly a full day. The new Hamilton Pan Europ retains the case shape of the original, with its curving, angular lugs integrated seamlessly into the strap. The stainless steel case is water-resistant to 50 meters and has contemporary dimensions of 42 mm. The bright blue rotating bezel has an aluminum ring. The blue dial has a white reflector ring and the white dial and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova. Bright red is used for the central seconds hand, the tiny seconds and sub-seconds indices from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock, and on the interior of the perforated black leather strap (a colorful textile strap, in blue with a red central stripe, is also available; both versions are pictured below). The watch also displays the day and date in a double window at 3 o’clock.

New Ladies’ and Men’s watches by Mido

LOUIS MOINET’S Qatar Tourbillon Lights Up Doha
ido watches have only a cult following in the U.S. but are very popular elsewhere in the world. For the ladies, Mido has released two new models of its Mido Commander Lady collection, which the brand has manufactured continuously since 1959. The Mido Commander Lady Sunray Satinated has a steel case with a rose-gold-colored PVD treatment and a silver dial with a sunray satinated pattern, while the Commander Lady Mother of Pearl has a stainless steel case and an iridescent white motherof-pearl dial. The case contours of the Mido Commander Lady, as well as the faceted hour markers on the dials, are inspired by the Art Nouveau lines of Paris’s Eiffel Tower. The Mido Commander Lady cases are 33 mm in diameter, and water-resistant to 50 meters. The diamond-polished hour and minute hands, as well as the indices, are treated with white SuperLumiNova. The movement in the watch is the Swiss-made ETA 28362, with automatic winding via a rotor decorated with Geneva waves and engraved with a Mido logo. The movement has 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vph, Incabloc shock absorption, and a Nivarox II balance spring. The watch comes on a strap of black, semi-lacquered calfskin leather. The Sunray Satinated model will also be available in an all-steel version and a two-tone steel/rose-gold PVD model with a bracelet. There will also be a model in yellow-gold PVD, a hommage to the original Mido Commander from 1959. The first new Mido watch for men announced for this year’s Baselworld is the MidoMultifort Two Crowns, a divers’ watch equipped, as its name implies, with two crowns — one at 2 o’clock to operate the inner rotating bezel and another at 4 o’clock to wind the watch and set the time. The latest in Mido’sMultifort line, the first of which was released in the 1930s, the watch contains an ETA 2836 automatic movement, which powers the hours, minutes and day/date function in a window at 3 o’clock. Visible through the clear sapphire caseback, it has a decorated rotor with the Mido logo, blued screws and a power reserve of at least 38 hours. The stainless steel case is 42 mm in diameter, has a satin-brushed finish, and boasts a diving-friendly water-resistance of 200 meters. The anthracite dial has a vertical côtes de Genève pattern and the hands and indices are coated with white and orange Super-LumiNova. The steel bracelet has a folding clasp with a divers’ extension. Two other versions of the MidoMultifort will be available, Mido says: one with a pink PVD-treated steel case, brown dial and brown rubber strap; and another with black PVD-treated steel case, black-and-orange dial and black rubber strap.
ouis Moinet has lit up the 2014 Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition with the launching of its new QATAR Tourbillon. The QATAR Tourbillon presents two fragments of the one and only meteorite ever found in Qatar, finely inlaid into a handengraved dial depicting two bent swords and sand dunes, a tribute to Qatar. This is a world first and an exclusive model, since no other meteorite has ever been found in Qatar. Louis Moinet has acquired this precious meteorite to turn it into horological art. The QATAR Tourbillon is presented in an exceptional 18K white gold case composed of 59 different components and equipped with the Louis Moinet signature crown guard. The latter invention consists of an independent stem integrated within a watertight system and held with a plate secured by four screws. It represents a major advantage in facilitating servicing, compared to traditionally soldered stems. The view through the QATAR Tourbillon display-back is almost as spectacular as the dial side, with the ‘octopus spring’ of the winding and setting mechanism taking centre stage. This ingenious component is effectively three springs in one – pull-out piece spring, lever spring and click spring – all radiating from the centre like the swirling legs of an octopus. The movement plate is engraved with Louis Moinet’s “Côtes du Jura” motif. Louis Moinet Store: +91 8146400826

oli hey bai holi hey! The season of joy and colour is here. This is one festival when the entire city is full of colour, with faces glowing with happiness, fun and frolic. Everybody, age immaterial, eagerly look forward to this one festival all year long with abetted breath. This festival is celebrated with much fanfare among all religion,
caste and creed and a standing example of the secularism of our country, which is on full display. Holi celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather, sing and dance. The next morning is free for all carnival of colors, where everyone plays, chases and colors each other with dry powder and colored water, with some carrying
water guns and colored waterfilled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders. The frolic and fight with colors occurs in the open streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings. Groups carry drums and musical instruments, go from place to place, sing and dance. People
move and visit family, friends and foes, first play with colors on each other, laugh and chitchat, then share Holi delicacies, food and drinks. In the evening, after sobering up, people dress up, visit friends and family. It is a national holiday in India Holi is celebrated at the approach of vernal equinox, on the ‘Phalguna Poornima’ (Full Moon). The festival date
varies every year, per the Hindu calendar, and typically comes in March, sometimes February in the Gregorian calendar. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships

Use mehendi / henna powder, separately or mix with equal quantity of any suitable flour to attain a lovely green shade. Make use only pure mehendi and not the one mixed with amla (meant to be applied to our hair) as this would be brown in colour. Dry mehendi will not leave colour on your face as it can be easily brushed off. Only when it is a paste (i.e. it is mixed in water) will it leave a slight colour on your face. Thus, it can be used as a pucca / fast colour.
Red
Red Sandal Wood Powder / Raktachandan / Lalchandan (Pterocarpus santalinus) has a beautiful red colour, is extremely beneficial for the skin and is used in face packs, etc. This can be used instead of Red Gulal. Dry red hibiscus flowers in shade and powder to make a lovely red colour. To increase the bulk add any flour to it Sinduria, called Annato in English has a water chestnut shaped fruit which contains lovely brick colour red seeds. These yield both dry and wet colours.
Blue
The Jacaranda flowers can be dried in the shade and ground to obtain a beautiful blue powder. The flowers bloom in summers. The blue Hibiscus which is found in Kerala can be dried and powdered just like the red hibiscus

Hiranmayi.G
Senior Optometrist, Lawrence & Mayo with an Experience of 8years. They are known for their precision in eye care and eye-testing.
City Lifestyle: - To start with, what is the most important thing pertaining to eye care? Hiranmayi. G: - There are two things to consider for living a healthy life. One pertains to the physical well being and the other; the eye. For physical well being one has to give relaxation to joints, back, legs, neck and hands. When it comes to the eye, they have to do the same thing. They should help it relax. That’s done by blinking 20 times at a distance of 20 feet for twenty sec for a minute, each day. This is called the 20-20-20 rule. City Lifestyle: - Is it rule different for extensive computer users? Hiranmayi. G: - Usually, an extensive computer user doesn’t move at all. This is not intentional, because they are too focused on what they are doing. Apart from that, when they are outside they are exposed to a lot of ultra violet rays (UV). The neck movement, neck rotation and hand movement should happen at least once every 45 minutes. They can use sun glass also, which gives protection from dust and UV rays, which is a common phenomenon. The common misconception that people who have power cannot where sun glasses is false. It’s just a myth. Several sunglasses have been designed cater to them too. City Lifestyle: - For pregnant women, does eye care vary? Hiranmayi. G: - For pregnant women, you cannot get your eyes check during pregnancy. One has to also wait much after delivery. This is almost one year post delivery. This is because; the eye is susceptible to fluctuate a lot as a result of hormonal changes in the body. City Lifestyle: - And youngsters, is there anything they should be doing to protect their eyes? Hiranmayi. G: - Basically, two primary things; dust protection and escaping from the harmful UV rays. City Lifestyle: - Probably, one of the most often asked question is there any way to avoid wearing spectacles altogether? Is there any concrete stand-point on that? Hiranmayi. G: - No. There is nothing on that front yet. The reason being that, at any given point in time every individual will have to wear spectacles. The eyes responsiveness will slow down with age and various other parameters like stress and proper sleeping habits. The only option to avoid wearing spectacles is to use contacts, which is a good substitute. Several people are choosing this option in order to avoid wearing normal frames. City Lifestyle: - Is it because the frames are not trendy? Hiranmayi. G: - Everyone wants to be trendy. Even while taking good eye care they want to be trendy. Several youngsters feel it feels uncool or not in vogue. The solution to problem like I said is contacts. As a matter of fact, today, there are many trendy power sunglasses available, with several options in colours and frames. City Lifestyle: - How many should a person get his eye checked? Hiranmayi. G: - At least, one’s every year. City Lifestyle: - Is there any particular reason for that? Hiranmayi. G: - Yes, as a matter of fact there is. What happens is, as one grows older, say in the case of those between the age group of 30-40, a higher percentage suffer from diabetes and hypertension. As a direct result of this, power always keeps changing. City Lifestyle: - How does one know if a child is suffering from poor eye sight owing to genetic issues? Hiranmayi. G: There is no direct method. Parents should observe and keep a tab of a certain things. For example, the child will go closer to the TV set or at a nascent stage, if the teacher informs about the child making mistakes while writing from the blackboard while sitting in the last rows, then one should consult an eye specialist at the earliest. The refractive error can be negated pronto. City Lifestyle: - summer is round the corner. What is the most common eye problem and what is its solution? Hiranmayi. G: - As a matter of fact, there are two common problems during summer. One is instant blindness, because of the exposure to direct sunrays and the other is the dryness factor, a result of extreme heat. The solution for instant blindness is wearing sunglasses, of which we advice our patients also. Polarized glasses, is an additional feature in sunglasses today, which help cut through the glare, leading to better clarity and a nice soothing feeling on the eye. Splashing of cold water is also a good method. Once they get used to these practices, it becomes easier to avoid several issues related to eyes and healthy ’eye’ life.

arm fat
Don’t worry about your infamous arm fat. You don’t need to go to the gym to get perfectly toned arm for your pretty sleeveless dress. Below are some of the easy exercises for women to tone their arm muscles at home.
Push-ups We don’t do any heavy lifting and that’s the reason we have weaker arms. Heavy lifting is very beneficial to strengthen your arms. Start slowly, with beginner’s pushups. You can start off by holding weight on your hands and knees instead of your hands and toes. Once your arms get stronger, you can gradually move to regular push-ups.

Skipping Skipping helps you burn fat and helps you get sleek and tone arms too. Skipping rope affects arms muscles as you lift your body’s weight as well as move your arms in circular motion. This increases the activity in the arms.
Scissors The exercise is called scissors because movements resemble scissors being opened and closed. It’s an effective way to lose arm fat faster. Stand up straight and stretch your arms straight in front of you at the height of your shoulders. Keep them straight and firm the whole time. Stretch them to the side and bring them back in front of you to have your right arm overlap your left. Stretch them out again and bring them back to have your left arm overlap your right. Repeat at least 20 times.

Arm twisting This is an easy way to lose weight from the arms. Don’t let the name scare you, you are not really going to twist your arms and hurt yourself. This is one of those exercises that look so easy until you start doing them and see how effective they are. Stand straight, spread your arms to the sides and twist them in such a way that your palms face the ceiling. Now twist your arms horizontally to make your arms face the ceiling once again.
Lifting Weights Exercising with weights can help you lose arm fat. Weight lifting strengthens the muscle of your arms. Don’t start with weights that are too heavy, you can get heavier weights when your arms get stronger. Take the weights in your hands, put your arms down in a normal position and then lift your arms to the side and in front of you at the height of your shoulders and to the back as high as you can.

T
he morning hums with the din of the walkers, some of them wanting to be let in as early as by 4.00am. In hundreds, the joggers, walkers, skippers, badminton enthusiasts and odd athletes nursing varying levels of aspirations, descend on the premises. The Gardens truly wake in full bloom, with the curbsides chana-waalas voicing their existence loudly to the odd policeman who chances upon them. Yes, the Public Gardens continue to be the hub of their neighborhood, and for several people, a lingering interpretation for verdancy. Much more than the Assembly, the Public Gardens present a fine blend of tradition, adventure, growth, freedom, equality and friendship - visiting the place is almost like visualizing the meaning of the golden chapter on the Fundamental Rights in the Indian Constitution.
AHALYA
There are generous plans in the pipeline for converting the Public Gardens into one of the tourists’ havens in the very near future - though, at present; the evenings provide a recluse to people not seeing eye-to-eye with the Tourism Department’s idea of fun tourism. The Public Gardens also consists of a Health Museum, Contemporary Art Museum and a children’s park. The outdoor theatre called Lalitha Kala Thoranam is the venue for film festivals, fashion shows and beauty pageants. It has an ancient mosque and the office of the Department of Horticulture in its premises. A garden without roses is often considered incomplete; hence a rose garden was developed in the main lawn to fulfill the need of a complete garden. Considered to be older than humans, various types of roses adorn this garden like hybrid teas, floribundas, polyanthus and miniatures. They add a lot of natural beauty and scented blooms to the already exquisite garden. xquisite garden.
