An important DECADE of local political history drew to a close at a packed press conference in a chilly courtyard at the Legislative Assembly this week when Jon Stanhope, with almost perfect political timing, put the prospect of getting his spring garden organised ahead of pressing on as Chief Minister. The time was right for him, he said, and the time was right for his anointed successor Katy Gallagher, who will be leading Labor’s run at the election in October next year.
