Marketing update

Having quickly moved from 2021 entry, the focus of the Marketing Team moves swiftly to starting the recruitment process for 2022 entry.

Events

The first half-term of the new academic year saw the arrival of not one but two highly successful open events – the first to take place face-to-face following the lockdowns. The team enjoyed meeting prospective students, with record numbers coming through the doors. Our open event on Saturday 9 October saw more than 1,000 students and their families attend across our five Centres and the A-Level open evening on 19 October saw around 300 students and their families attend. Thank you to everyone who has supported these recent events.

Feedback for the event has so far been very positive and thank you to those who have taken the time to complete this. If you have not yet done so, please complete this quick survey so we can gather views and put these in place ready for the next event.

Graduation ceremonies

The prestigious Higher Education Graduation Ceremony will return this year, following last year’s ceremony being cancelled due to the pandemic and a robing photoshoot being held in its place. The event will be rather different as we will not have some of the additions we have had in previous years by tagging onto UWE Bristol’s ceremonies, such as the marquee.

The event will be held on Saturday 20 November at Bristol Cathedral on College Green. There will be a morning and an afternoon session to enable those who could not graduate last year to attend.

Can you help? We need help with a range of roles on the day including ushers, meet and greet team and checking guest tickets. If you can, please email events@cityofbristol.ac.uk

Course Guides

The new-look course guide for school leavers is receiving lots of attention and the new QR codes are giving us good information on what additional things prospective students are looking at.

The HE guide will be completed soon, enabling us to have it in circulation earlier than ever. .

Website

Please continue to tell us if anything is not correct or is missing on the website. The team try very hard to ensure information is accurate and continually improved, but nobody knows your offer as well as you. Email website@cityofbristol.ac.uk with any comments or amends you have.

Enrolment feedback from students

Enrolment feedback from students has been positive this year, with 273 students rating the helpfulness of staff as ‘excellent’, a 13% increase on the 2019/20 academic year enrolment.

The average time spent by student completing the face-to-face enrolment process was 30 minutes to one hour and those who completed their enrolment online said it was simple to do.

The welcome week which took place around the sites ran smoothly and the Marketing and Student Services Teams will be looking at how to build upon this for future years to create a more enticing, freshers’ fair feel.

Tell us what is going on

Are your students going on a visit, do you have a student with an interesting story to tell? We want to know. Email ellie.young@cityofbristol.ac.uk so we can cover this.

‘The Moon’

by Keshy Kaur

I am the moon and I play a game, I don’t always look the same.

Sometimes I’m a round silver sphere, Sometimes just half of me seems to be here.

Sometimes I’m a crescent shaped like a smile, Sometimes I surprise you and hide for a while.

Look up in the sky for my friendly light, what shape will I have? When you see me tonight.
