Young Person’s Prospectus - English and maths matters

English and maths matters English and Maths are the most important skills and qualifications you need which will help you to progress your professional career and help in day-to-day life. Every course for school leavers includes English and Maths development. We want all of our students to gain English and Maths at Level 2, if you already hold a GCSE Grade 4 or above, you will develop these skills in an industry-related context. These qualifications will: Support you to progress and pass your chosen course. Support your progression onto higher levels of study, an apprenticeship or university. Support your future employment and opportunities for promotion and higher pay.

Will I study English and Maths? If you are aged 16-18 and don’t have a Grade 4 (C) or above at GCSE in either English or Maths, you will attend weekly classes to work towards this level. The English and Maths skills you gain will support you to be successful in your chosen career. English and Maths pay English and Maths qualifications could be the difference which gets you the apprenticeship, job or promotion you want. You’re more likely to get into university Gaining a Grade 4 or above at GCSE level will boost your chances of getting into your chosen university. We use English and Maths skills every day We use English and Maths skills in the work place, at home and when we socialise. A good level of understanding means you can progress in the work place as well as having more control over parts of your personal life, like your finances, communication and gain a better understanding of politics and current affairs.
