Ushers Ferry Historic Village offers family-friendly activities, events, and programs that build community from the historical perspective of a small Iowa town at the turn of the 20th century. Located on a ten-acre site in beautiful Seminole Valley, Ushers Ferry features nine ADA-accessible, historic buildings available to tour that depict life in a small Iowa town between the years of 1890 and 1910.

Sunday, October 22 | 1 - 4 p.m. Enjoy the annual old-fashioned Halloween at the village with trick-or-treating, games, and costume contests. Registering in advance is encouraged but not required.

SPOOKY HAY RACK NIGHT

Wednesday, October 25 | 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come to Ushers Ferry for our last fall hay rack night with a Halloween twist! In addition to the hay rack ride, enjoy a children’s craft, s’mores and hot cocoa around the bonfire, and a very special, after-dark tour with one of the village’s mysterious residents. Hear some of the rarely told stories and history of Ushers Ferry and Linn County.

Come tour Ushers Ferry! The buildings are open Monday through Friday through August with self-guided audio tours and brochures. Please call 319-286-5763 in advance if your group is larger than 12.

BONFIRE PARTIES & HAY RACK RIDES

Looking for an evening of country fun for your friends or youth group? Gather around a bonfire at Ushers Ferry. Drink hot cocoa, toast marshmallows, and then take a hayrack ride. By appointment only. Call 319-286-5763.
