#ENCINITASLIFE
From the Director’s Desk… Hello Encinitas,
We hope you are having an amazing summer. I want to provide an update on the Standard Pacific Park Site Project. The 30% plan design drawings are complete and the design team is working on completing 60% design drawings so that we can start moving into the construction phase of the project. We want to thank all of the community participants for their input on this project. The park is scheduled to open in late summer 2019. For more information on the park please visit www.EncinitasCA.gov/StandardPacifi cParkSite. Staff is currently working on the design and installation of shade structures over the playgrounds at Encinitas Community Park, Sun Vista Park and Leo Mullen Sports Park. The shade structures were approved at the June 20 City Council Meeting. This season’s brochure will feature all of our fall classes. Now is the time to try a new class. Be sure to attend Moonlight Beach Bash on Saturday, September 29. Hope to see you there! . Enjoy all that Encinitas has to offer!

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department has been busy working on improving our parks with new enhancements. The playground replacement projects for Mildred MacPherson Park and Encinitas Viewpoint Park are now complete! The new playground amenities include fun new play features, rubberized surfacing and shade. The Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park enhancements include new shade umbrellas and agility equipment. The Dog Park agility equipment was funded through a grant received by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department from the PetSafe Bark for Your Park grant program. Through the ďŹ nancial support of dog lovers, PADZ (People and Dog Zones) presented the City with $6,000 towards the shade umbrellas. The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department recently awarded the Park Shade Structure Design and Installation Project which will provide new shade structures over the playgrounds at Encinitas Community Park, Sun Vista Park and Leo Mullen Sports Park. This project is expected to begin in the fall with Encinitas Community Park.
