Do The Stingray Shuffle Stingray wounds are one of the most common injuries during the summer months when the water is typically warmer. From April to October, lifeguards recommend doing the stingray shuffle to lessen your chances of getting stung. When you enter the water, look down and watch where you step. Move your feet in a shuffling motion to let stingrays know you’re there. Avoid stepping up and down.

SEASIDE DAY CAMP
Whether exploring outdoors, or just plain having summer camp fun, Seaside Day Camp offers an enriching summer camp experience for kids ages 5-12. One can’t go far at Seaside without hearing a laugh or seeing a smile. In our beautiful Ocean view surroundings and enriching environment at Glen Park, children get to unplug from all life’s electronics, develop social skills, and run and play outside. Glen Park is a hidden educational, recreational oasis and the City’s first organically managed park. The Park, organic garden and nearby Pacific Ocean offer campers beauty, tastes, sights, smells, textures and many wonders of the natural world. Our main focus at Seaside is to help young people learn more about themselves and others through nature, play and exploration.
What’s unique about Seaside day? Experienced Camp Staff
youth / teen
Many of our camp staff have been campers or counselors in training at Seaside. This experience and specialized camp training creates a fun, safe environment where children can learn and explore. Our staff understands that a child first needs to feel secure before they will explore and try new things.
Affordability
Seaside Day Camp offers one of the best camp prices in the Encinitas Community. Daily or weekly extended care options are available; before care (7a.m.- 9a.m.) and after camp care (3p.m.-6p.m.) to help accommodate parents’ busy summer schedules.
Weekly Field Trips
Seaside Day Camp offers two field trips each week of summer camp. One trip is out in the community to a variety of venues that include San Diego County Fair, Padres Game, Boomers, The Wave Water Park to name a few. A certified transportation company is contracted to do all of the transportation for field trips. In addition, Seaside Day Camp takes a weekly trip to San Elijo State Beach. To ensure safety, two CA State Beach Life Guards are assigned specifically to our camp during these trips to the beach.
Daily Time Spent in Nature
Opportunities to be unplugged are at Seaside Day Camp. Play, exploration, gardening and quiet time in nature are all daily experiences at Seaside. Glen Park with its beautiful trees, ocean views and open grass areas are an educational, and recreational oasis. This unique camp environment provides campers a break away from the electronic world of today. There are no computers or computer gaming at Seaside Day Camp.

THE WORLD OF DANCE “The world of dance is a magical place….” Marilee Gorham, City of Encinitas Recreation Superintendent “Little did I know growing up that the powerful lessons I learned in dance class would help shape me to who I am today. I simply had a passion for dance. The music, the rhythms, the grace and the self-exploration it provided me was simply magical! Then, as a former dance teacher of twenty years, I recognized early on that dance is universal…. we all have the ability to dance because dance in and of itself is inherent in each of us. Through our daily movement and self-expression, there are no limits in the world of dance. Experience the magic!”

“Seaside Day Camp was my child’s first summer camp experience. I am a very protective parent and rely on camp staff to keep my child safe when I am at work. The staff at Seaside always greeted me with a warm smile, asked me questions about my child and always communicated to me how the day went. As a new parent the staffs’ professionalism made me feel more at ease and so thankful that I chose Seaside for our first camp experience.” (Donna Tipton, Olivenhain)

ENGINEERING MATTERS At a 2014 Tech Conference in Orlando, FL, Apple CoFounder Steve Wozniak had this to say about engineering. “Young engineers mean the most to me in the world,” said Wozniak, who appeared at Gartner’s Symposium/ITxpo. The Apple co-founder said he loves to appear before young crowds at high schools and universities, and it may be because the students remind him of his own drive to learn. One thing that makes engineering different from other disciplines is that you have to prove your idea, he said. “If you have a clever idea, that’s totally a different approach, the question is: Does it work? For engineering, everything has to work - that’s the answer,” said Wozniak. Wozniak’s advice to the audience, many of them senior IT leaders, was to make sure that their engineers are part of the idea-generation process. “We have ideas for companies, ideas for revenues and products,” said Wozniak, of engineers. “Don’t forget to include the engineers - they are trained to solve problems. That’s what they’re really good at.” Steve Wozniak: Engineering matters. October 8, 2014, from computerworld.com
Course #6001; Mon, July 18 - Fri, July 22
“Kids are natural engineers. We help them realize it. Kids dive into our classes and exercise their innate gift for building. They come away understanding fundamental principles of engineering and physics. The experience boosts their confidence, creativity and ability to collaborate. Kids can’t get enough!” (Play-Well TEKnologies)
