This 4 week course will help you get started in using a computer and then build upon those new basic skills. Course content will include hardware basics, mouse control, keyboard fundamentals, internet access, Email and word processing including creating, managing and accessing documents, files and folders and how to use editing features (select, copy, paste, move and delete). The course will conclude with how to use internet search engines and how to avoid online identity theft. Buying and Selling on eBay and Craigslist

This 2 week course will teach you how to buy and sell goods on two of the most popular web sites on the World Wide Web. The course content will include the differences between the two sites, the major features relating to visiting these sites and the safety measures you should be aware of in using these sites. Digital Photo Workshop I & II

This 2 week course will teach you how to transfer your digital pictures to your computer, create folders and albums, enhance and crop your photos, create a slideshow, save your photos to a CD or flash drive, make movies and videos with special effects, and add titles and music to your home-made movies. Computer Tutoring

Volunteers will aid you with a working knowledge of computer applications such as computer start up/ shut down, email attachments, word processing, spreadsheets and Internet Services. It is time to strike up the band and dance to the classic melodies of yesteryear! Couples and singles are welcome. Singles can look forward to “mixers” and “waterfalls”. Have fun with exercise while learning cultural dances from the Polynesian Islands of Hawaii and Tahiti. Pickleball is easier than tennis, more fun than badminton and a little slower paced that ping pong. It is a social sport without being physically demanding. T’ai Chi Chih

T’ai Chi Chih is a moving meditation that promotes health, energy, serenity and longevity. Its 20 powerful movements are easy to learn and practice. They are adaptable to anyone’s physical condition, even if in a wheelchair. In the Beginning class, you will learn 16 movements over a 3 month period. Special guidelines apply. In the Intermediate class, any movements not mastered will be reviewed. Refine and deepen the practice of all 20 movements for a stronger flow of Chi. Prerequisite for the Intermediate class is beginning T’ai Chi Chih and/or knowledge of at least 15 of the 20 movements. Please call for details. Come enjoy a delicious meal served in the Banquet Hall. Reservations are required and can be made up until 8:00 AM of the day you would like to have lunch, by calling (760) 943-2258. Although reservations are required for a guaranteed meal, extras may be available on a firstcome-first-served basis for those without a reservation. Check the menus available at the Senior Center for daily meal options. This program is supported by donations, the Older Americans Act with funds awarded to the City of Encinitas by the County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services, and the City of Encinitas. Seniors 60+ suggested donation of $4. No eligible person shall be denied a meal because of failure or inability to contribute. Under 60 there is a mandatory fee of $6. Nutrition Project Council

The most effective way to ensure that the Nutrition Program is addressing the needs of the senior community is to have a participant advisory body, the Nutrition Project Council. It is the purpose of this Council to advise the contractor’s Nutrition Coordinator on matters relating to the provision of nutrition. Bereavement Support Group

“As they participate, they remember; as they remember, they grieve, as they grieve, they heal.” For those looking to find help and healing from the loss of a loved-one, come and participate in this ongoing grief support group, led by Bereavement Counselors from Hospice By the Sea. The Angel’s Depot Program

The Encinitas Senior Center has partnered with Angel’s Depot, a nonprofit, charitable agency that packs nonperishable, nutritionally balanced boxes of food for low income senior citizens. The FREE food boxes from Angel’s Depot are delivered to the Center monthly and distributed at the Senior Center. The program is for Encinitas residents ages 60+ or 55+ with a disability who meet the income qualifications. Please call (760) 599-7093 for additional eligibility requirements and an application. Writing For Life

This class focuses on general nonfiction writing principles of structure, voice, and narrative flow. Overall writing techniques will be taught and time will be devoted each class period for writing exercises and sharing of articles written. While a focus for some students can be how to apply skills learned in class to writing an actual memoir, the course allows for basic writing practice surrounding either small or large lifechanging event description, people/characters and personal expression in the everyday world, both past and present. Are you an Encinitas senior citizen resident with no means of transporation? If so, you may be eligible to become a passenger. Volunteer drivers will take you to the grocery store, doctor appointments, pharmacy, Senior Center and many other locations in Encinitas. Call Gail Dupler, Transportation Coordinator at (760) 943-2256 to request an application. There is no charge. At the present time, approved Out and About Passengers are being put on a wait list. When addiitonal drivers become available, passengers will be notified in the order the applications were received.

Easter Egg Hunt Festival & Summer Programs Preview

The City of Encinitas presents our annual Easter Egg Hunt Festival & Summer Programs Preview on Saturday, April 7, at Ecke Sports Park, 278 Saxony Road, Encinitas, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This FREE event features crafts, prizes, jump houses, an inflatable slide, face painting, the Bunny & Instructor meet and greet and 20,000+ eggs! Egg hunt times are as follows: 10:15—2 years & under, 10:45—3 year-olds, 11:15—4 & 5 yearolds, 11:45—6 & 7 year-olds, 12:15—8 & 9 year-olds. Attention All Seniors! Join us for our annual FREE Senior Information Fair featuring exhibitors offering information about services for seniors, including health, transportation, housing, recreation and more. Code of Conduct

The City of Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department Code of Conduct is to ensure respectful and safe participation in Encinitas recreation programs and activities. Participants, as well as parents of participating minors, may be required to sign Code of Conduct forms to acknowledge program rules, goals, expected behavior and/or consequential actions to support a positive and valued learning and/or recreational experience. This Code is also to be considered and adhered to by all contracted, voluntary and other support Staff.

Transfer / Refunds / Cancellation Policy

Transfers are permitted up to five (5) days before the start of the class/program. A $5.00 Transfer Fee will be charged on all transfers approved. Cancellations /Refunds – Activities are subject to change. A full refund (minus the Administration Fee) will be issued for any class/program cancelled by the City. No cancellations/refunds requested by participants will be issued after the class/program begins. If you cancel at least five (5) days before the class/program begins, you will receive a refund minus a $10.00 Refund Fee and the Administration Fee. Refunds are not issued for inclement weather. Refunds may take 2–3 weeks to process. No credit issued for future activity registrations.

See next page for step-by-step instructions. 2. Walk-In: Come by and register in person. We accept payment by credit/Debit, check or money order, payable to the City of Encinitas. The Parks and Recreation office at City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and is closed on alternating Fridays. The Encinitas Community and Senior Center is open for registration Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. 3. Mail-In: Mail your completed and signed Activity Registration Form along with a check or money order payable to the City of Encinitas. For classes held at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center, mail to: Encinitas Community and Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.
