We’ve got more summer camps for youth lined up than ever before and like every summer look forward to exciting sports league play too. Looking for a break from the summer heat? It’s always cool at The Center, a designated “Cool Zone.” GATHERING PLACES - Situated centrally in Encinitas, with spectacular mountain views to the east and sweeping ocean views to the west, the beautiful Encinitas Community Center is the perfect place to meet up with friends. The Community Center rents meeting and activity rooms for your gatherings, as well as the full-service 4,800 square foot banquet hall or gymnasium/auditorium for your events. SPORTS - Have a passion for sports? How about getting in some basketball, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, or take a hike outside and enjoy the natural open space, home to a wide variety of native plants.

ACTING & WRITING CAMPS Playwrights Project Camp (Ages 9-12) Aleta Barthell

In this 5-day camp, participants will be guided through the process of taking an idea and turning it into a finished play that will be read aloud by professional actors on the last day of camp. Lisa Monaco Gonzales, best-selling author, invites young aspiring writers to this fun-filled, educational camp, where your child will write and illustrate their very own story. Each day, as your child’s voice finds expression in words and pictures, he or she will learn about the components of a story and aspects of book layout. Intrepid Shakespeare Company

In a fun and creative environment, campers develop theatre skills, gain confidence and develop social skills through collaboration and performance. Professional teaching artists lead classes focused on acting, singing, scene study, fight choreography, dance, improv, stage makeup, and mask work. The week will culminate in a showcase performance for friends and family. The campers will be divided into two age groups: 8-11 and 12-15. Be a part of a 20-year plus Encinitas tradition. If you are interested in becoming a Junior Lifeguard Aide, you must be between the ages of 14 and 17 and have prior experience in the Junior Lifeguard Program for at least one year. To apply for a position, you will need to register and send a letter of intent (via email: encjrguards@ encinitasca.gov) to the Junior Lifeguard Coordinator. Surf Camps (Ages 6-17)

When registering you will be prompted to select a Beginner/ Intermediate or the Girls Only Program. Our surf camps are specifically created to help learn proper surfing fundamentals while developing proper surfing techniques. We will work on skill development and ocean safety while helping our students get to the next level of their surfing. These camps are ideal for beginner and intermediate level surfers that want to become more proficient surfers. Our professional and experienced staff work with each student both individually and in small groups to maximize the time and to create the best learning environment. We have a wide range of different shapes and sizes of surfboards for the students to ride to find what is best for their size and skill level. This camp helps each student be more confident with themselves in the ocean environment while learning many new and challenging aspects of surfing. Surfboards and wetsuits are always provided for students.

Video Game Design is a prerequisite for this camp. This camp provides students with a fun interactive look at the world mobile video game design and development. Students enrolled in this camp will learn how to publish games to their favorite Apple ® or Android device.

Super Moverz / Team Challengerz Beach Camp (Ages 5-13)

Dive into a fun-filled week of radical beach sports! Build team bunkers for the Crystal Capture game. Construct awesome sand castle complexes. Go for a perfect “10” in the daily team boogie board competition. Bring a pack lunch to enjoy under the big tent and earn team points all week for cool prizes. The Gaming Academy is an all day camp for students who love games. During this camp students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. Students will get a fun and interactive look at the world of video game design and development. Students enrolled in this camp will learn the basics of video game design and produce several different interactive video games to share with their friends and family.

This camp is an in-depth look at the world of web design and development. Students enrolled in this session will learn how to build their own web site from start to finish using Adobe’s award winning suite of products. The learning for this camp does not end at the door; students will have access to their web site with free hosting for one year.

Video Game Design is a prerequisite for this camp, This camp offers an interactive look at the world of 3D Game Design. This awesome 3D Video Game Design camp offers the chance for students to create and immerse themselves in a 3D world. If you are looking to design professional 3D games that both look and feel just like the ones you play at home, then you don’t want to miss this camp.

This hands-on, interactive camp will instruct students on the world of digital video design and production. Students will film, direct and edit their own digital video creations. If you are a beginner surfer, or you are looking to develop your surfing skills, our private surf instruction is just for you. Step Up is an advanced surf training program designed to help sufers work on their competitive skills and strategies while increasing their overall performance and endurance. The Angel’s Depot Program

The Encinitas Senior Center has partnered with Angel’s Depot, a nonprofit, charitable agency that packs nonperishable, nutritionally balanced boxes of food for low income senior citizens. The FREE food boxes from Angel’s Depot are delivered to the Center monthly and distributed at the Senior Center. Out and About EncinitasGet on Board!

Are you an Encinitas senior citizen resident with no means of transportation? If so, you may be eligible to become a passenger. Volunteer drivers will take you to the grocery store, doctor appointments, pharmacy, Senior Center and many other locations in Encinitas. Call Gail Dupler, Transportation Coordinator at (760) 943-2256 to request an application. There is no charge. At the present time, approved Out and About Passengers are being put on a wait list. When additional drivers become available, passengers will be notified in the order the applications were received.

Transfer / Refunds / Cancellation Policy

Transfers may be processed prior to the second meeting date of a program and will not incur any fees if the transfer is to a program of equal or lesser value. Transfers to a program of greater value will include the program fee difference and an additional processing fee. Cancellations/Refunds — Activities are subject to change. A full refund will be given if the City cancels the activity. Refunds requested before the second program meeting date may be granted minus a $10.00 cancellation fee and $2.50 processing fee ($1.00 for seniors). Prorated refunds may be given for a medical reason, based on the number of unattended days. Doctor’s note required. No refunds will be issued for inclement weather or after the second program meeting.

The City of Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to adjust the transfer/refund policy depending upon the circumstances and the severity of the situation.
