PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION

STORMWATER ADVISORY BOARD

The commission reviews and comments on public art projects proposed or offered to the City of Fayetteville for placement on City-controlled property. Meets: As needed Location: To be announced Term: Two years

PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION The commission provides general supervision and management of the electric, water and sewer utility. Meets: Second and Fourth Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. Location: PWC Administration Building 955 Old Wilmington Road, Fayetteville Term: Four years

REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION The commission plans and implements the City’s Community Development programs (Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Act) with administrative and technical support provided by the Community Development Department. Meets: Second Wednesday of each month 12:00 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Five years

JOINT CITY AND COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION The commission recommends policies and programs to aid the City and County in meeting the needs and aspirations of senior citizens. Meets: Second Tuesday each month at 2:30 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Two years

The Stormwater Advisory Board provides guidance and advice to the City Council pertaining to the Stormwater Management Program including, but not limited to, program activities, functions, systems, management and funding. Meets: First Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall, Term: Two years

FAYETTEVILLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON TRANSIT (FACT) The committee functions as the liaison between the citizens of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST). RESIDENTIAL RENTAL PROPERTY REVIEW BOARD The board will hear appeals from an owner of residential rental property who is required to register, due to disorderly activity and/or whose registration has been revoked. The citizens who volunteer for these positions are the link that connects the public to its governing body and are the advisors who make recommendations that ultimately shape the future of Fayetteville. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

ETHICS COMMISSION

The board hears and decides appeals or requests for variances with regard to the enforcement of any zoning ordinance. Meets: Third Monday of each month at 5 p.m. Location: Council Chamber City Hall Term: Three years

A Council-appointed commission whose purpose is to investigate complaints, render advisory opinions, hear complaints, and publish findings and recommendations regarding alleged violations of the city’s ethics policy by city employees, board and commission members, and City Council members. Meets: Third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall

JOINT CITY AND COUNTY APPEARANCE COMMISSION The Appearance Commission reviews proposed public building and site plans within the city and county on public properties and initiates programs to improve visual quality. Meets: First Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Location: Cape Fear Room City Hall Term: Two years

BOARD OF APPEALS ON BUILDINGS AND DWELLINGS AIRPORT COMMISSION The Fayetteville Airport Commission administers the operation and maintenance of the Fayetteville Regional Airport. Meets: Last Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. Location: First Floor Conference Room Fayetteville Regional Airport 400 Airport Road, Fayetteville Term: Two years

The board hears and decides appeals from citizens concerning violations of chapter 14 - housing, dwellings and buildings and violations of chapter 11 - fire prevention code. Meets: As needed Location: First Floor City Hall Term: Three years

FAIR HOUSING BOARD The board hears fair housing complaints investigated by staff and, on appeal, fair housing violations of chapter 10 of the Fayetteville City Code. Meets: As needed Location: To be announced Term: Two years MEMBERSHIP

AT TENDANCE:

It is the policy of the City Council to allow an individual to serve on only one board or commission at a time. Pursuant to City Code § 2-35(c), an appointee shall attend at least 75 percent of regularly scheduled meetings on an annual basis from the date of their appointment and if an appointee does not comply with such attendance, or fails to attend three consecutive regularly scheduled meetings, then the appointee shall be automatically removed and not be appointed to any City board or commission within two years of their removal date. The City Attorney shall notify the appointee and report to the City Council by letters if an appointee has been removed pursuant to this provision.

FAYETTEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION The purpose of the City Planning Commission is to develop and carry on a long-range, continuing and comprehensive planning program for the orderly growth and development of the city of Fayetteville. Meets: Third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Two years

FAYETTEVILLE ZONING COMMISSION The Zoning Commission is empowered to conduct public hearings for the purpose of making recommendations to the City Council on initial zonings, rezonings and special use permits. Meets: Second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Location: Council Chamber City Hall Term: Two years

FAYETTEVILLE LINEAR PARK, INC. The corporation assists the City of Fayetteville in the financing, acquisition and improvement of Linear Park. Meets: First Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Three years

FIREMEN’S RELIEF FUND BOARD OF TRUSTEES The board of trustees is responsible for ensuring the expenditure of funds derived from the provisions of state statute 58-84-35. Meets: As needed Location: Fire Department City Hall Term: Two years

HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION The commission is responsible for reviewing and approving all exterior changes to the designated historic districts and landmark properties, as well as conducting public awareness and education programs concerning historic properties and districts. Meets: Fourth Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Two years

FAYETTEVILLE-CUMBERLAND HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION The commission studies problems of discrimination in any or all fields of human relationships and encourages fair treatment and mutual understanding among all racial, ethnic, sex and age groups. The commission promotes programs and seeks solutions to these problems. Meets: Second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Location: Lafayette Room City Hall Term: Two years

FAYETTEVILLE-CUMBERLAND PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMISSION The commission advises the City Council on policies and plans to provide adequate parks and recreational facilities for the city of Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Meets: First Tuesday of each month at 5:45 p.m. Location: Parks and Recreation Conference Room 121 Lamon St., Fayetteville Term: Three years
