Keeping Our Children Safe at School

Protecting schools is a top priority for the Goodyear Police Department. “I believe children should have a safe school environment where they can focus on learning rather than being concerned about safety,” said Goodyear Police Chief Jerry Geier. That’s why officers are in every high school as part of the School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) program. A Goodyear Police Officer is assigned to each of the three high schools in the city; Estrella Foothills, Desert Edge and Millennium. An officer is also dedicated to the middle and elementary schools.

Mabel Padgett, Centerra Mirage and Westar elementary schools also serve as School Police Substations. The substations serve as an office space for officers on duty. It allows them to complete paperwork and other work-related tasks, while ultimately providing greater police presence at the school.
