a highlight of sport in Grande Prairie Grande Prairie is a community of choice to host high-calibre sport, recreation and cultural events. With world-class facilities, major airline and public transportation services, more than 3,000 hotel rooms and plenty of dining and shopping, Grande Prairie is a premier destination for many events. Coming up, Grande Prairie is honoured to host the 2017 Alberta Provincial Boxing Championships, the Alberta 55+ Provincial Curling Championships and the 2018 Alberta Summer Games. Past successes include the 2010 Arctic Winter Games, 2014 Senior Men’s Provincial Fastball Championship, 2014 Racquetball Canada Junior Nationals, 2015 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games, 2015 Alberta Lacrosse Minor Box Provincial Championships, 2015 Tour of Alberta, 2015 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling and the 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. This publication was developed to help teams and sport associations find the information they need to host exceptional events. The City of Grande Prairie and the Sport Council also work to empower all sport organizations by providing them with everything they need to be successful. This includes: •
