The Twin Ice Arena at the Community Knowledge Campus is the only facility of its sort in the City boasting two year-round ice surfaces and a variety of unique spaces to host meetings and events. With an approximate 650,000 views annually, this multi-million-dollar facility is the hub for a number of ice sports. The Twin Ice Arena is connected internally to the Eastlink Centre and is a part of the Community Knowledge Campus that has been in operation since 2003.

This state of the art facility is among the largest training centres in Canada, producing a number of provincial champions as well as three national champions.

Evergreen Park is home to the largest exhibition facility north of Edmonton - the TARA Centre – and includes a variety of both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The 1200-plus acre complex was opened in 1982 and has become a focal point of sport and recreation in the region.

Grande Prairie Ball Diamonds
The City of Grande Prairie manages and maintains a total of 19 ball diamonds throughout the City at South Bear Creek Park, Parkside School, The Leisure Centre, Dave Barr Community Centre, and various schools. The County of Grande Prairie also has ball diamonds at the Crosslink County Sportsplex and Evergreen Park. The diamonds host a variety of user groups, including slo-pitch, fastball, and tournaments. The level of diamond maintenance depends on the class of diamond including fertilization, aeration, mowing, and infield grooming.
SOUTH BEAR CREEK PARK
South Bear Creek Park is home to a variety of ball tournaments and special events. On average, a dozen ball tournaments are played each season on our diamonds. Our goal is to showcase South Bear Creek as a world-class sports destination, providing our athletes with a home-field advantage.

The Parkside School Ball Diamonds have undergone various improvements and are now dedicated to youth play only. This venue is capable of hosting local, regional, and provincial competitions.

The Activity & Reception Centre in the Smith subdivision provides inclusive, affordable, accessible recreation opportunities for all members of the community and can serve as an emergency reception centre. This facility hosts a variety of drop-in activities to serve many recreational and leisure needs, and offers a small meeting room for community rentals.

The Wapiti Nordic Ski Club is one of Canada’s premier cross country skiing and biathlon facilities. It is home to the Steve Cooper Lodge which was completed in 1994 as one of the major legacies from the 1995 Canada Winter Games. The club is used by members in the spring, summer, and fall for hiking, mountain biking, and running.

Founded in 1949, in Grande Prairie is one of the finest shooting clubs in Alberta, catering to both gun enthusiasts and high-caliber athletes. Along with the fantastic indoor and outdoor ranges, this multidiscipline club is proud to host a number of training opportunities and clinics to promote shotgun, rifle and handgun shooting that top coaches and athletes from all over Canada have participated in.

Grovedale Golf and Country Club is conveniently located 14 miles southwest of Grande Prairie. This challenging 18-hole course offers a dramatic, country, park-like setting, nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Grovedale. As a public course, Grovedale Golf and Country Club is accessible and enjoyable for golfers of every level of play.

Pipestone Golf Club is a challenging par 71 course with lots of trees, water and sand. The family owned and operated public course located west of Grande Prairie and South of Wembley brings visitors back to a simpler time with the antique furniture and old farmhouse paraphernalia in the clubhouse. Located just minutes east of Sexsmith and a short drive North of Grande Prairie, Morningview Park offers a beautifully maintained and welcoming course. This venue guarantees a casual and relaxed atmosphere to accommodate golfers of all abilities as well as a great destination for the more serious golfer.
The course provides approach play and short game practice as the greens are in excellent condition and very well maintained. Pin positions are chosen to provide challenging putts and chip shots.
