Overview

Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is the successful contractor for the City of Grande Prairie's Downtown Rehabilitation – Phase 4 project. This project involves upgrading infrastructure including water services, sanitary and storm sewer, street lighting, concrete curbs and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt pavement and street furniture. New shrubs and trees will be planted in front of the buildings, with new paving stone walkways being installed on top of structural soil cells.

This brochure focuses on activities that will occur over the 2021 construction season and the milestones that will be achieved for each construction area. Simultaneous scopes of work will occur for the duration of the project as our primary scheduling objective is to have construction complete by the end of October 2021.

When road closures are in place, Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. will accommodate all pedestrian access to businesses and properties within the construction zone. Our Public Relations Representative will be in constant communication with both the business owners and Knelsen's Project Manager to ensure minimal impact to store front access and to coordinate deliveries. Once construction begins, public and crew safety will be priority number one. A Traffic Accommodation Strategy will be implemented, and no public vehicle access will be permitted into the work zone. The roads within the project limits will be used as staging areas for equipment and materials until construction is substantially complete and the area is reopened for public vehicle access.
