Welcome to the QPT program for 2018. We have a sensational line-up of shows that you’ll want to tell your friends and family about and plan your next group outing. News that Steve Backshall’s Deadly 60 Down Under was coming to Geraldton had the community roaring with anticipation. Not only will Steve share some of his wildest tales, he will be bringing with him some of Australia’s deadliest animals! Next in the line-up is the Ocean Film Festival World Tour that is set to mesmerise and enthral. Picture footage taken from above and below the water’s surface as well as captivating cinematography, fast-paced wave sequences and awe-inspiring underwater scenes. Later in the season Frank Enstein comes to town. The retelling of the classic tale for children and adults is filled with dance and music to create a truly unforgettable show. This show is not to be missed! The QPT has a lot on offer this season and this is just a taste of what’s in store for January-June 2018. See you at the QPT.

A Musical Tribute to Peggy Lee by “Avenue”
FEVER There is no doubt that Peggy Lee was a singing sensation. However, there was much more to her life than singing. Peggy found herself drifting into composing and publishing outstanding tunes like “It’s a Good Day” and “Manana” featured in this sultry show. ‘Avenue’ is a well-experienced band and will accompany Joyce Mathers. Joyce will perform Peggy’s most popular tunes while taking the audience through Peggy Lee’s life and music. You will find yourself clicking your fingers to “Fever” and singing along to “I’m a Woman”, “Hallelujah I love him so” and “Big Spender”. OCEAN FILM FESTIVAL WORLD TOUR Designed to mesmerise and enthral, the Ocean Film Festival World Tour showcases more than two hours of sublime footage taken above and below the water’s surface. This carefully curated selection of short films document the beauty and power of the ocean, and celebrate the divers, surfers, swimmers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray; who chase the crests of waves and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue. The films feature captivating cinematography, complete with awe-inspiring underwater scenes and fast-paced wave sequences that have been captured from unbelievable vantage points. Inspiring and thought provoking, the Ocean Film Festival World Tour is filled with moving footage, touching interviews and insightful narrations. THE NUTCRACKER Following the 2017 sell-out performances of Swan Lake, the Moscow Ballet La Classique returns to Australia to present the jewel of classical ballet, Tchaikovsky’s spectacular masterpiece THE NUTCRACKER. La Classique with its artistic ballet mastery, lavish costumes and magnificent stage sets will take us on a journey back in time to the frost-covered, gas lit world of Clara, her beloved Nutcracker Doll and the magician Drosselmeyer. This romantic tale with its blend of magic and realism brings to life the popular Tchaikovsky score featuring the famous “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “The Waltz of the Flowers.”. With this delightful production of the much loved Nutcracker, La Classique captures the imagination, the passion, the humour and magic of the ballet. “Is the dream for real . . . THURSDAY 15 MARCH 2018 QPT WITH THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA PRESENTS
THE LARK ASCENDING
The Australian Chamber Orchestra’s acclaimed string ensemble, ACO Collective, returns to Geraldton in 2018 for their concert The Lark Ascending. Artistic Director Pekka Kuusisto leads the ensemble through an exploration of English works of the old to new, as well as new commissions and Vaughan Williams’ poignantly brilliant masterpiece, The Lark Ascending. Joining this program are two other English works separated by some 265 years: Henry Purcell’s Fantasia upon One Note contains a middle voice that plays literally one note throughout, and Benjamin’ Britten’s Second String Quartet, which was written to commemorate 250 years since Purcell’s death, providing a link between the two works. 90 MINUTES WITH INTERVAL TIME: RATING: TICKETS:

MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL WOMEN ON FIRE Menopause the Musical returns to the stage with new songs, new dance routines, new gags, and a new Producer. Celebrating all things menopausal, in the all-new Menopause the Musical – Women on Fire! The production follows the story of four women who meet at a lingerie sale and discover they have plenty in common, including memory loss, night sweats, hot flushes, too much sex, not enough sex and much more! The original Menopause the Musical debuted in Australia in 2005 for a six week season in Melbourne which was extended to six months. The show then went on to tour other capital cities for five years and was seen by 980,000 theatre goers across the country. THE BIG HOO-HAA! If theatre met stand-up comedy in a smoky bar one night and, after a few drinks, found themselves in a compromising position in the back of a clapped out ‘67 Volkswagen, the result of this sordid tryst would be The Big HOO-HAA! The Big HOO-HAA! Is an improvised comedy that will help you forget your troubles and have you laughing out loud from start to finish. In the style of “Who’s Line Is It Anyway” and “Comedy Sportz”, The Big HOO-HAA! Sees two teams of fearless comedians take the stage to battle it out in a competition of wit, humour and bad mime skills. It is a no-holds-barred race to the punch line. An interactive show that uses audience suggestions to create improvised comedy sketches. FrankEnstein Frank could be a genius. Just one more ‘i’ and he’d be an Einstein! Frank is a lonely guy who wants to make his imaginary friends real. Harnessing electricity from a storm, he creates his world from nothing but his imagination and the garbage in his lab. Battling a physical impairment, Frank creates monsters to fulfil his desire to be normal and to be accepted by others. Can he control what he creates? And who is the real monster anyway? FrankEnstein is a retelling of the classic tale for children and adults – magical dance-theatre illuminating a path to selfacceptance. A Night of Respect and Wonder: Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin Sung by AViiDA. In this must see performance, AViiDA conjures soulful interpretations of Stevie and Aretha’s most memorable and signature songs, including Natural Woman, Think, Respect, Say a Little Prayer and Chain of Fools from Aretha’s collection, plus Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Superstition, Master Blaster, For Once in My Life and Sir Duke from Stevie’s masterful collection of songs. Performances are held during the daytime for seniors and other community members in the Greater Geraldton area. Ticket prices include the show itself as well as a morning tea.
