Employee Krysa, Mitchel

Approving Director

Destination

Camdenton, MO, United States

Purpose

2023 MSME State Convention: I am on the Board of Directors for MSPE serving as Immediate Past President, and also serve as at least three committee chairs to which I have been asked to conduct parts of the meeting.

This will also allow me to earn about 10 PDH’s towards my annual registration requirements. City of Independence will receive recognition for support of the convention.

How did the travel apply to the job?

First the convention provided me with 9 PDH's towards my continued registration as a professional engineer. I was also able to collaborate with peers in the state that are in public utilities, in similar positions as mine. I also serve on a committee (Professional Engineers in Government), and through this specific convention, several presentations regarding how government employers and their employees interact. Much similarities with MODOT, Dept Nat Resources, etc. The NSPE President, who was in attendance is the Public Works Director for the City of Jefferson City, MO. I was able to share thoughts and practices with him.

How did training add value to the city?

Being in a leadership position at MSPE (Executive Committee and Board of directors as Immediate Past President), the city was noticed as being supportive of the Society and as such received positive recognition and praise for such support. It also gave me information to assist with my managers position in helping make my division more efficient.

General comments:

Good, solid convention, with more emphasis this time on legislation impacting PE's and in general legislation that impacts engineers. Very helpful and very glad MSPE is very involved with the State Legislature on critical issues for not only Engineers, but for the public sector as well.
