A message from the Director of Community Services HELLO LAKE ELSINORE! As the new Director of Community Services, I would like to introduce myself, I am Johnathan O. Skinner and very proud and privileged to be here working for the City of Lake Elsinore. The City has a deep, rich history in the Inland Empire and I am honored to be part of a Management Team and department staff who internalize the “Dream Extreme” vision. Being new to the area, I am enthused with the passion the community has to take care of where they live, Programs and of course our Lake as they participate in community clean up days; take swimming, ballet and other classes; and take the time to be active in the governmental process to improve our City and what we have to offer. I have already been asked, “What will Community Services bring to us in the community?” That’s a good question and one that has several answers.
Determination – To bring Community Services to the residents in Lake Elsinore and show us as an asset to the City and the region.
Recreation – the Lake Elsinore Community Services department has resources to bring new and exciting
programs that will highlight the assets available throughout the area. Partnerships are being explored to increase programs that will promote a healthy community and enrich the lives of Lake Elsinore residents.
Enthusiasm – Our staff are excited to see what we can bring over the years which includes special events,
facility enhancements and fun into the area. We would like to express our appreciation and thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who have participated in our seasonal events and other city sponsored projects.
Activities – Starting with our community clean up events, we want to increase the avenues for the community
to give back to residents. Got an idea for a class? Let us know, maybe YOU will be an instructor in our next brochure.
Making it happen – Lake Elsinore is not only a destination for extreme sports and activities, but it is quickly becoming an ideal location for film productions the internet video series “Video Game High School” and popular television episodes such as Storage Wars. We want to deliver Extreme Customer Service. We will be responsive to your comments and concerns, and be proactive with our responses and actions. We want our residents to be part of the Dream. As our Senior Center staff says, whether you are young or more experienced, “Dream Extreme . . . Live it the second time around.” As you can see, the DREAM is what we believe, and the Dream is what we will bring to you! Johnathan O. Skinner, Director of Community Services City of Lake Elsinore

What can you do? Throughout the dry part of the year, pollutants such as motor oil, antifreeze, trash, pet waste, and grease fall, the rain water carries these pollutants into the storm drain. Even common activities such as over watering lawns and landscaped areas, car washing and hosing down driveways or pet waste droppings cause pollutants to make their way into the storm drain. Before you throw something away or clean outside areas, ask yourself, will the waste end up in the storm drain? If the answer is yes, we recommend you; • Use dry cleanup methods on motor oil, grease, antifreeze etc. (absorbents, sweep, vacuum, rags) • Wash over or direct water runoff to landscape/grassy
