ARE YOU PREPARED FOR A FLOOD IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD? As we enter the rainy season (October - May) it is critical to remember that areas of the City of Lake Elsinore, are subject to flooding during heavy rain events from the lake or any of the many channels and streams that can be found in the City. The Lake Elsinore Management Project, constructed between 1988 and 1995, has helped conserve water, improve water quality and reduce flood risk, however flood risk, while reduced, still exists. DID YOU KNOW... • Property in the City next to Temescal Creek, the outflow & inflow channels, and the area around the lake bordered by Riverside Drive, Lakeshore Drive, Mission Trail/Corydon Road and Grand Avenue have a known potential for flooding. • Flooding is not covered by a standard homeowners insurance policy. A separate flood insurance policy is required. • The City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program that makes available federally backed flood insurance for all structures. Contact your insurance agent for information. There is a 30-day period for coverage goes into effect. City of Lake Elsinore residents receive a discount on flood insurance.
