I was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I met and married my husband 27 years ago , and it was always a dream of ours to live in Colorado. Family and friends ended up keeping us in Los Angeles for 20 years. I was a real estate broker for 18 years while raising our daughter and son. Six years ago, we moved to Bellingham, Washington, and lived there for five years. An opportunity within my husband's company opened for us to move to Denver and we took it, having moved here last summer. Once we got settled into our new life here in Colorado, I realized I wanted to give back to my new community. I have always volunteered at my children's schools and while I always enjoyed that, I wanted to do something different this time. I got online at Lakewood.org and searched through the numerous volunteer opportunities. I found the VOA lunch program and called Jean to set up an appointment to meet and get a tour. I knew immediately I wanted to be a part of this team. I have enjoyed every minute of my time here and have met some wonderful people. Getting to spend time giving back to my community has really helped make Colorado feel like home. When not volunteering, I spend my time taking care of my home and family and our two dogs, taking art classes at the Lakewood Cultural Center, and trying to spend as much time as possible outdoors in this beautiful state.
