THINGS TO KNOW

y Early registration pricing for Arts & History camps begins February 7 (Residents) and February 9 (Nonresidents) and continues until eight days prior to the first day of camp. Regular registration begins seven days prior to first day of camp.

y Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

y If camp does not meet minimum registrations, coordinator will cancel before the camp meets.

y If a camp is full, it may be possible to be added to a waitlist. You will be contacted only if a space becomes available. Please note that not all camps accept waitlists.

y Credit/refund requests must be made at least seven days prior to the start of camp. Refund requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a 50% processing fee. Refunds can be added to your household account or issued via check or credit card; no cash refunds. Please allow three weeks to receive a refund.

y We reserve the right to cancel or combine camps. A full refund will be issued if we cancel. Payment will be credited to your household account, and you will be notified to discuss options.

Food Allergies/Dietary

Restrictions: Due to the large variety of food allergies and restrictions, we are unable to adapt every recipe. When possible, we will use substitute ingredients provided by the parents; however, please be aware that this will not always be an option. This class will use meat and animal biproducts (eggs, cheese, milk, etc.) in many of the recipes.

BASICS OF COOKING

Learn how fun and easy it is to prepare healthy meals while learning the basics of cooking. We start with breakfast meals and move on to lunch, supper and snacks. Learn how to read a recipe, create and eat a meal, clean up and follow etiquette rules.

BEATMAKING!

Come learn to make some sick beats from Mr. Anthony! He will take you through picking out some great music samples and how to arrange and create new chords. Learning is simple with MIDI keyboards, pad controllers and iPads provided for use in this camp. Best of all, show off those new skills with a Friday performance!

BROADWAY MUSIC REVIEW

This camp is for anyone who loves to showcase their talent. Students create their own musical theater revue for a performance on the last day of class. This weeklong camp involves solo and ensemble work in singing, acting and dancing. Vocal and performance skills are taught to give students a confident and polished performance. Performance on Friday.

STORYBOOK DRAMA

Young actors will learn how to take a favorite children’s storybook and work together to act without a script. A new book is explored each day with an emphasis on the use of the whole body in creative expression and teamwork. Performances every day during the last 30 minutes of class.

MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE

Do you have a young thespian that is ready for the stage? Actors will get the full musical theater experience through rehearsals and a performance. Students will learn techniques in acting, singing and dancing, along with performance skills. The performance will be on the last day and students must be available both weeks. Students will learn and practice techniques for creating realistic and whimsical character looks. Learn how to make and apply prosthetic pieces and headpieces to make yourself otherworldly! Keep a specially curated set of theater makeup for future use.

School Age Services offers three interactive, fun and educational camps for participants ages 5-12. Children will participate in field trips, community service projects, arts and crafts, organized sports, swimming, climbing and other activities at Lakewood Recreation Centers.

Camp Paha is a unique summer day camp for children and young adults with disabilities living in Lakewood and surrounding communities. Enjoy swimming, sports, games, nature, music, sensory, arts, crafts, and field trips in a safe, challenging, and fun environment. Camp Paha is a licensed Colorado Child Care program for campers ages 6–17. Camper scholarships are available through the nonprofit, Friends of Paha. Visit FriendsofPaha.org for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Upon registration, ALL Campers will be added to a waitlist. When campers are promoted off the waitlist, you will receive an email notification requesting the completion of your camper’s ePACT profile and payment of the $50 registration fee. All families will be required to provide documentation of a physical from the last six months. Families registering for both sessions will be asked to rank a first and second choice of sessions. Depending on staffing availability sessions may be limited to one per camper.

TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP

Teen Adventure Camp is a summer camp option for teens that takes them to explore some of Lakewood and the Metro Area’s top attractions. Adventure field trips can include: Water World, Bear Creek Lake Park, laser tag, hiking, volunteering and much more. Teens will gain skills in teamwork, leadership and self-confidence while enjoying a summer full of memories, friendships and adventure.

Ages: 12-15

RECREATION /ARTS COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)

Applicants will be notified how to register once accepted into this program.

Our CIT program is the first step in the transition from camper to staff member. Teens will gain valuable work experience while developing communication, problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills. Enrollment into this program is a competitive application process that may be followed up with a brief interview.

$250 Resident, $275 Nonresident

CIT FIELD EXPERIENCE

Upon completion of the training course, teens will be placed into three weeks of field experience of their choice at our various camps between June 19 and Aug. 4. Field Experience will be selected during training. Participants may register for additional weeks of field experience upon invitation by that camp’s director.

Upon successful completion of the entire CIT program, participants will have the opportunity to apply for the Youth Coalition or Youth Internship program.

Join our summer camps team! Choose from arts, history, sports, gymnastics, climbing, teen and day camps.

CAMP PAHA (Age 16+)

Work with individuals with disabilities ages 6-25. We will focus on FUN with a range of activities and field trips.

POOLS (Age 15+)

Be a lifeguard or cashier at our pools. Four indoor pools are open year-round, and outdoor pools and splash parks are open Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Through the Lakewood Possibilities Fund, residents can apply for funds to attend facilities, programs and events.

Possibilities Fund scholarships are awarded based on household income, and a portion of the registration fee is paid by the participant. Residents are eligible for up to $300 scholarship assistance per year, based on need and available funding.
