Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is located at 201 E. Jones Street. *The entry fee to LLELA is $5 per vehicle (debit or credit card only). Season passes are available online. **Registration is required for ALL programs.

Saturday Nature Walk

Join us for our monthly naturalist-led nature walk. Each season at LLELA is different, and we never know what we’ll find—deer tracks, autumn leaves, blooming wildflowers, nesting songbirds, butterflies and much more. The hike will last about two hours, and all ages are welcome. There is no additional fee for this hike, just LLELA’s regular gate fee ($5/vehicle).

A Chance to Hike

This free guided nature walk for members of the Special Needs community will take place along the wide and level crushed-granite surface of the Cottonwood trail. We may see signs of deer, coyote, or bobcat, and maybe even see an armadillo during this mile-long hike. No reservations required.

BBQ and Bluegrass LLELA Fundraiser

Get your boots on and join the Friends of LLELA for an evening of BBQ and bluegrass music. Bob Monaghan, award-winning pit master, will be barbecuing all-you-can-eat pulled pork, brisket, sausage, and chicken plus providing all the standard BBQ side dishes. Fill up your plate and then sit back to enjoy some foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ bluegrass music out at LLELA.

Bird Walk

Looking to get a glimpse of a Painted Bunting? Having difficulty putting a feathered face to that one particular tweet? Join us for a tour of prime birding locations throughout LLELA and get tips from the experts on becoming a better birder. Birders of all skill levels are welcome. Registration opens 14 days before the programe date.

Fee: $10 ( $5 registration fee, $5 gate entry fee)

Saturday at the Cabin

Completely restored and furnished with all the trappings of everyday frontier life, the Minor-Porter Log House gives visitors to LLELA a window on life in Denton County in 1870. Knowledgeable volunteers will guide visitors through the structures (log house, smokehouse, and reconstructed dugout) and answer questions in this informal tour. No registration required.
