The Hive Online Training

The Hive, the Library’s makerspace, features specialized equipment and software to help inspire learning, creativity, and creation. Training is required before a patron may use some of the equipment. The Hive staff have created online training modules to help patrons new to The Hive learn the equipment, and to help those who haven’t visited in a while to refresh their knowledge.

NewsBank America’s News

America’s News, a digital newspaper collection, is now available for Lewisville library cardholders. America’s News provides online access to current and archived issues of 4,000+ full-text newspapers, including the Lewisville Leader, Denton Record Chronicle, and Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Easily search and browse current and archived news articles, editorials, obituaries, and more.

Weekly Storytime Classes Ages 0-6 Join us as we reinforce pre-reading skills through age-appropriate early literacy classes that include stories, rhymes, songs, and fingerplays. Stop by the library for a full schedule of classes.

Parent or caregiver must attend and participate with children during all classes. Space is limited, and a free ticket is required to attend. Tickets are distributed on a first come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the class start time at the Children’s Desk.

Age guidelines are enforced for corresponding classes. Older and younger siblings can attend with a child who is of the appropriate age for the class.

Family Read-Aloud Club

Parents: Read aloud to your school-aged kids and earn free books for your family’s home library--up to four per year! To learn more and get started, visit the Youth Services Desk or website. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

We invite you to participate in this free program that encourages you to read 1,000 books with your newborn, infant, toddler, or preschooler before he or she starts kindergarten. Your child will receive a free book for completing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge. Visit the Youth Services Desk or website.

Welcome Baby!

The Welcome, Baby! program is designed to welcome newborns and their parents to the Lewisville Public Library by introducing them to library resources and early literacy concepts. Every baby age 0-12 months who visits the Lewisville Public Library is eligible to receive one Welcome, Baby! care package that includes a board book, a RockA-Bye Baby Reader, program information for babies and parents, book recommendations, and a reusable tote bag.

Take a Break Tuesday

Drop in for a free teen activity, craft, or game that changes every week. All materials provided. Teen Advisory Group

Make a difference in your library and in your community--join the Teen Advisory Group! This active, dedicated group meets regularly and works together and with library staff to create youth programs, shape teen events and services, volunteer in the community, and more. Interested teens must apply for membership; applications are available at the Youth Services Desk or on the library’s website.

Free Income Tax Assistance

Free income tax filing assistance is provided at the Library starting in February. Some income tax assistance is by appointment only.

Book Clubs for Adults

The Library offers a variety of book clubs for adult readers of popular fiction and nonfiction, mystery and suspense, science fiction and fantasy. There’s a book club for all kinds of readers.

Adult Board Gaming

First Saturday of the Month 1-4 p.m. Board games aren’t just for kids anymore! Join us for an afternoon of tabletop gaming. Open to adults 18+ Free GED Prep Classes

Mondays & Wednesdays 6-7:30 p.m. Registration Required Free High School Equivalency (aka GED) classes for adults are designed to prepare eligible adults who lack a high school diploma to take the GED exam. These classes are provided by North Texas Adult Education & Literacy, a department of Denton ISD, and funded by the Texas Workforce Commission. To register, call Denton ISD at 940.369.0400.
