Caterpillar Lunch & Show

Summer Fun Camp

Activity Room B

Prerequisite: Six years old at the camp start date

Parents need a summer break, too. Take an hour lunch break for yourself while your child relaxes over a lunch brought from home, then watches a movie or listens to a story. Sign your child up by the week for lunch out with friends of the same age. Please pack a lunch and drink each day.

Perfect for children age 6 through 12, each week will feature a special theme and character trait, group games, crafts, sport activities, movies, swimming at the Lou Eves Municipal Pool, and an off-site field trip. Please remember daily to have all campers pack a full lunch, refillable water bottle, plenty of snacks, sun blocks, a hat, sunglasses, and extra clothing in a durable backpack or gym bag. Morning and evening extended hours are available. There is no Summer Fun Camp the weeks of June 27 and July 11. We suggest you try Laffalot Camp, Circus Camp, Nature Camp, or Fishing Camp during those weeks.

A tip from Paul Heintz, owner of Mojo Running. Visit Mojo Running’s kiosk in the Symbiosis store at Mason Community Center.

Studio A, B, C and Outdoor Fitness Area

HOW TO REAP BIGGER REWARDS: Consistency is good, complacency is not. If you are consistent with your exercise program, that is good. However, if you are doing the same routine, reps, sets and amount of time week after week, that is not so good. If you are working on cardio machines, change your speed and/or incline for 15 to 60 seconds intervals. If you walk/run/cycle outdoors, find hills to climb and/or pick up speed for the same 15 to 60 second interval. When strength training, change your reps from 12 to 14, and/or sets from 2 to 3. Instead of a full body routine, try a split body (upper Day 1 and lower Day 2) over two days. If you have a set 45 minute work-out, try 50+ minutes. These small changes can lead to big results....if you are consistent with them.

Maybe it’s lingering issues with an old injury or something that’s been an annoyance for a while. Perhaps you are hesitating because you’re not sure whether exercise will help it or make it worse. The solution may be a more medicallybased workout program through the Mason Community Center’s clinical exercise program. This program pairs you with a certified athletic trainer from TriHealth. The athletic trainer will work with you to design a personalized exercise program to ensure your safe return to exercise and activity. All you need is a referral from your physician describing the issue and releasing you to exercise. The certified athletic trainer will then meet with you to discuss your medical conditions and design a program focused on your specific needs. The Community Center offers a variety of facilities to help you on your wellness journey, ranging from a variety of equipment in the fitness center to the track and warm water therapy pool. Ladies Beginner Golf Golf Center at Kings Island

Improve Your Game A tip from Andy Horn, golf pro at the Golf Center at Kings Island

In this class designed especially for women, you’ll learn the basic rules of golf, etiquette, and the fundamentals of the golf swing. The class will focus on setup, posture, alignment, proper ball position, and grip. Each lesson will focus on a new aspect of the golf swing and show how all fundamentals work together.

Don’t let your short game suffer while waiting for your first spring tee-off.

Day Date W 4/6-4/27 W 5/4-5/25

Simply place two clubs on the floor parallel to each other and with a 7 iron, practice taking the club straight back and through without hitting either of the alignment clubs. After you are comfortable swinging the club straight back and through, practice chipping a ball from between the clubs. Similar to pitching pennies, try to stop the ball as close to a wall as possible. This drill is also great for putting. When you finally get out on the course, your short game distance and direction will be in great shape.

Adult Beginner Golf If you’re just starting out in the game of golf, let us teach you the basic rules, etiquette, and the fundamentals of the golf swing including, setup, alignment, posture, swing speed, grip, proper ball position, and correct club selection. Start your new hobby off right with our help. Time 5:30-6:30P 5:30-6:30P

Tennis programs are provided for juniors and adults. Junior classes will follow the “games” approach to learning tennis. Classes will be half traditional stroke work and half focused on rallying skills. To teach rallying, the class will use bigger balls, fewer court lines, and multiple ball bounces to help kids play “real tennis” before they acquire all the racquet skills needed to play sets. Players will learn ball striking skills, scoring, rallying skills, and basic strategy—all in a fun, stimulating environment. Rainout and makeup classes will be scheduled as needed. There is no makeup for missed classes. In case of inclement weather conditions, arrangements will be made.
