MENLO PARK COMMUNITY CAMPUS PROJECT In 2021, construction began on a new multigenerational facility in Menlo Park’s Belle Haven neighborhood that will combine a public library, senior center, gymnasium, afterschool program, and aquatics center in one dynamic community space. The project is being built to the highest environmental standards with leading-edge techniques, and is scheduled to open next year. Learn more at menlopark.org/mpcc

If you cannot attend an activity or find the class not meeting your expectations, you can request a transfer, refund or credit. Your request will be prorated and assessed as follows: If you choose to transfer or credit, we will apply the prorated amount of your enrollment fee to any other class or leave a credit on your account. Please note that you have one year from the date the credit was applied to your account to use it before it expires. If you prefer to receive a refund, a $15.00 processing fee will be deducted from the prorated fee based on the date of the request, unless otherwise noted in our publications. If the course is canceled, you will receive a full refund or you can request to transfer to another class. There are no refunds for non–attendance (no shows) or materials fees.
Drop–off registration forms are processed randomly. Non–resident registration forms dropped off early will be held until the first day of processing for non–residents. 5ALL FEES SUBJECT TO CHANGE WINTER/SPRING 2015 City news 5FALL 2022 Menlo Park Municipal Water drought update On May 24, 2022, the City Council declared a Stage 2 drought emergency that asks all customers reduce water use up to 20% compared to their water use in fiscal year 2019-20. Additionally, moving to Stage 2 means that customers are required to limit their irrigation watering to 2 days a week. • Odd street address – Tuesdays and Saturday • Even street address or no address – Wednesday and Sunday PROHIBITIONS • Applying water to outdoor landscapes that cause more than incidental runoff • An automatic shut-off nozzle is required for hoses used to wash vehicles, outdoor hand watering, etc. • Washing impervious areas unless it addresses an immediate health and safety need • Irrigating turf and ornamental landscapes within 48 hours of measurable rainfall – this does not apply to trees • Using/filling/topping off decorative fountains, lakes, or ponds with potable water must recirculate water • Cover pools and spas when they are not in use • Irrigating turf on public medians • Using potable water for street cleaning or construction site preparation • Using potable water to irrigate non-functional turf at commercial, industrial and institutional sites ADDITIONAL MEASURES • Hotels and motels shall provide guests the choice to reuse or launder towels and linens daily • Restaurants and other food service operations shall serve water only upon request • Broken or defective plumbing and irrigation systems must be repaired or replaced within a reasonable period • Recreational water features shall be covered when not in use OUTDOOR WATER USE RESTRICTIONS • Limit outdoor watering to no more than 2 days per week according to the schedule. • Irrigating outdoor landscapes is prohibited between the hours of 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; however, these irrigation restrictions do not apply to hand watering with a bucket or automatic shut-off nozzle attached to a hose or adjusting/repairing an irrigation system For more information about our Water Shortage Contingency Plan, visit menlopark.org/water. MINI JAZZ (Grades 1-2) Make friends, explore movement and develop dance skills. Dancers will learn the basics of jazz dance through fun activities and dance combinations. Simple jazz movements that children can easily execute are taught. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, basic technique, locomotor skills and coordination. Fitted dance attire such as leotards along with dance skirts, jazz shorts or leggings are required. Please no baggy clothing, long skirts/dresses, or jeans. MOMMY, DADDY AND ME TENNIS (Ages Searching2.5–4)for the perfect way to introduce your child to the game of tennis? This class offers a fun way to interact with your child, while teaching them the basics of the game! Kids learn in a number of different ways, and when they’re under the age of four, they primarily learn through play. Working with them in an active setting is an important part of both their physical and mental development. During the class, parents and children participate together in fun, age–appropriate activities that will help your little one develop the motor and socialization skills necessary to continue with tennis as they grow. We believe that having fun while growing and learning key skills is very important to every child. We will be playing a variety of fun games and variety of basic sports play. Instructor: Euro School of Tennis Staff Location: Willow Oaks Park HI-FIVE SPORTS LIL BASKETBALLERS (Ages 3–5) We believe the game of basketball, when introduced properly, serves to help children build self-esteem, gross motor skills, coordination, athleticism and so much more. We’ll help each child to get a feel for the ball and their ability to dribble, pass, shoot, rebound and play defense. For the older kids, we’ll place a little more emphasis on teamwork, conditioning and actually playing the game. This program will be the training ground for our Hi-Five Hoops League for K-2nd Graders. HiFive’s mission is to help the next generation develop a passion for sports – one program, coach and child at a time. Players will be introduced to new skills each week, but that doesn’t mean they will forget about the skills they have previously learned! Sat–Sun, 9 a.m. –1 p.m. Oct 22–Oct 23 INTRODUCTORY SAILING (Ages 14+) Take the helm and “sail away” in your own 14’ long sloop! Learn the basics needed to get you out on the water, safely maneuvering your sailboat around the Lake. After completing the course, students receive certification to rent boats on their own.
