Spend a Sunday afternoon traveling to Salina, KS for lunch at the local favorite eatery, Corkie’s Diner, and to see a production of Every Brilliant Thing by: Duncan MacMillan. MacMillan’s play shines hilarious and compassionate light in dark corners of the human condition. This narrated play with audience interaction finds a perfect balance between conveying the struggles of life, and celebrating all that is sweet in it.

Columbian Theatre - Dueling Pianos

Join us for dinner at Manhattan’s Bluestem Grill followed by a showing of “The Sound of Music” at Manhattan Arts Center. One of the world’s most beloved musicals is the story of the Von Trapp Family. Young Maria is too high-spirited to become a nun and is sent to be the governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. His strictly run household is turned upside down by generous and charming Maria, who even the Captain comes to love. When Austria is invaded by the Nazis and the Captain is called to serve, the family must escape over the Alps.

Media Release. I grant the City of Manhattan permission to photograph, film or record me during or at the Recreation Activity, and I agree that the City may now and in the future use the photographs, videos or recordings for standard City purposes including but not limited to promotion, education, publicity, development, fundraising and training, in all media, online and social media formats. I agree that no compensation shall be paid for such use, and I release the released parties from any claims, liability or damage that may arise from such use.

Release of Liability. In consideration of my participation in the Recreation Activity, I agree to waive, release, discharge, and covenant not to sue, make a claim against, or prosecute, the City of Manhattan, including its respective officials, agents and employees, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “released parties”, from and against any and all losses, expenses, damages, injuries and liabilities and claims (including attorneys’ fees, court costs and settlement costs) arising out of or relating to my participation in the Recreation Activity and/or arising out of the risks assumed above.

It is our policy to provide persons with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in, and enjoy the benefits of our services, programs and activities. In order for us to provide reasonable modifications, we ask that you request what assistance is desired by contacting Parks and Recreation at 1101 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS 66502, call 785-587-2757, or call the TDD Kansas Relay Center at 800-766-3777. We are here to assist you in the registration (application) process as well. Essential eligibility requirements for each program are on file. Assistive devices are available upon request.

Classes and trips are limited in size, so enrollment will be accepted on a first-paid, first-served basis. Receipt of payment will reserve a place in the class. Checks will be returned if activity is full. Registrants will receive a full refund if MPRD cancels the program, or may be able to transfer participant to another class. A full refund is granted if request to withdraw is received 1 week (7 days) prior to start date. A partial refund is granted when requested between 1 week and at least 48 hours prior to start date. No refunds will be granted if the request is less than 48 hours in advance or if the participant fails to show. Participant withdrawals must be received during regular business hours M-F 8am – 5pm.
