The goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality of life in Rock Hill and to bring an end to violence in our community. The new BMX parking lot, located off Eden Terrace Extension, will provide an extra 155 parking spaces in close proximity to the BMX site. The paved parking lot will be open in anticipation of the April USA BMX Carolina Nationals. A sidewalk system will connect this new parking area to the Riverwalk property.

During this event, students had to pitch business ideas based on criteria including the readiness of the idea, a complete business model, feedback, technology, and originality. 59 students on 18 teams participated and generated a host of creative business ideas.

Economic and Urban Development con tin ue to help with expansions through City business parks including Superior Washer (Airport Industrial), Atlas Copco (Riverwalk), Oerlikon (Waterford), Southern Charms Event Center (Waterford), and MSI Fords (Antrim).
Goal: Provide for a coordinated transportation system that supports the City’s growth goals The G-Fund and CFund paving projects were bid out in March, with the contract being awarded to Lane Construction. Work will commence in a few weeks and is slated to be completed by September. Approximately 10 miles of roads will be repaved this year.
Goal: Support the study and development of key city corridors The Albright/Saluda Road Corridor Study is still underway. Stakeholder meetings have now been held with business and property owners, as well as neighborhood representatives. A public meeting is scheduled for April. Topics include land use, traffic, utilities, and bike/pedestrian/transit issues.

The majority of code enforcement cases are exterior structure issues. Based on this information, Housing and Neighborhood Services staff have recognized that the vast majority of these cases are in homes where renters are present. Staff are currently brainstorming ways to work with homeowners and renters to address these problems.

The Youth Council hosted Youth Service Day with over 100 volunteers helping at the Special Olympics and throughout the community. Additionally, the Youth Council and Mayor Echols hosted a Key Influencer Event for 59 high school students in which they provided input on the future of Rock Hill.
