Dutch Flohr History • Park formed in 1983/84 when the School and two subdivisions were being planned and both dedicated space for the park. • 1989 park completed and named “Sunburst Park” • 2.83 Acres: Two children play areas, adult fitness area, and picnic areas. • 1992 the park was renamed as Dutch Flohr Park after the City’s longtime police chief, Melvin (Dutch) Flohr. • 2020 RFP for landscape architecture team to update masterplan, play areas, fitness area, park infrastructure, and accessiblity.
Goals • Create a safe and welcoming park and playground. • Improve connectivity, accessibility, and usablity. • Enhance the park’s beauty.
Objectives • Update two playgrounds and create more connectivity between them. • Update the adult fitness area. • Update all paths to be accessible. • Update park infrastructure (drainage, irrigation, furniture).
