A day-tripper’s delight. This program is for adventurous older adults who like to explore local and regional destinations within San Diego County. Transportation is not provided, participants are encouraged to carpool or utilize public transportation when available. Pre-registration is required. Little Italy- Trolley Trip, Tour and Lunch Take the trolley to Little Italy for an afternoon of exploration and great food. Experience the story of Little Italy, San Diego-a neighborhood with an Italian presence since 1871. Discover the historic church with stunning religious art-frescoes, oil paintings and stained glass, historic homes from the 19th century, artifacts from the days when the Genovese & Sicilian fishermen dominated the seas, and the Prohibition era. Plus a visit to an Italian grocery store built in the 1920's, a guided group walking tour and much more. A family –style lunch will follow. Trip will occur rain or shine.

In partnership with the City of Santee, the Cameron Family YMCA operates an aquatics center that’s open to the general public as well as YMCA members. The center features a 25 meter-by-25-yard swimming pool, an activity pool with play structure, a water slide and water exercise area and locker rooms. Group, private swim lessons and swim team are offered year round.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve (619) 596-3141 www.santeelakes.com It is always family time at Padre Dam’s Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve. The 180-acre preserve features seven scenic fishing lakes and camping, including 300 recreational vehicle sites with full hookups, and tent sites. Ten cabins are also available for rent. The linear park includes five miles of walking and bicycling trails, a sprayground and numerous playgrounds and picnic areas.
Take advantage of more than 40 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails at this 6,100-acre reserve, one of the nation’s largest urban open-space parks. Free outdoor programs include guided nature walks, stargazing and bird watching. For additional information, call (619) 668-3281. MTRP is always recruiting volunteers. Sycamore Canyon Open Space Preserve/Goodan Ranch (858) 513-4737, www.sdparks.org Hike and bike along miles of trails within 2,200 acres of hills nestled between the cities of Santee and Poway. Visit the visitor center and ranger office in the canyon, a one-mile walk from the staging area. Free programs offered year-round. Accommodations made for those with disabilities. The Friends of Santee's River Park is a community group united in their goal of preserving and enhancing the San Diego River and surrounding park areas within the City of Santee. The Friends of Santee's River Park work in partnership with the City of Santee and residents to take ownership in their stretch of the San Diego River in an effort to maintain the fragile ecosystem and the greenbelt and beautiful parks that surround it.

New! Walker Preserve Trail 9500 Magnolia Avenue
Fall Into Art
Come visit Santee’s 107-acre Walker Preserve along the San Diego River. Chances are you’ll see a variety of birds and other wildlife along this unpaved, 14-foot-wide trail. The mostly flat path, which extends for 1.13 miles from Magnolia Avenue to the city boundary with Lakeside, has a shade structure, drinking fountain, mister, bike repair station, benches and interpretive signs.

Daily Activities Teen Center daily programming consists of a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation activities. Homework assistance and access to the Cox Communication Tech Center is available on a daily basis. Teens at the center are involved in the programming and are encouraged to help design and implement the daily activities.
The City of Santee Teen Center is an after-school and summer break drop-in recreation program designed for pre-teens and teens in grades 6-9. Leadership and volunteer programs are available at the Teen Center for teens in grades 10-12, up to age 17.
Professional Staff The center is staffed by City of Santee employees who are certified in first aid and CPR, have completed specialized teen-oriented training and have passed a Department of Justice background check. Our low staff-to-participant ratio offers a safe, well supervised experience and personal connection with each teen.

I understand and acknowledge that participating in boating presents the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to those caused by terrain, facilities, equipment, water temperature, weather, lack of hydration, other boat traffic, and the actions of others, including, but not limited to padre dam workers, other boaters, spectators, and volunteers. I understand and acknowledge that my injuries, death or property loss are solely my responsibility and not the responsibility of padre dam municipal water district. I understand that i am assuming all risks associated with boating at Santee Lakes Recreational Preserve. I acknowledge that this form will be used by Padre Dam Municipal Water District and that it will govern my actions and my responsibilities. In consideration and participation of this event, I hereby waive, release, and discharge from any and all liability for the death, disability, or personal injury to me, the district, its directors, officers, employees, representatives, and agents. Parks and Facilities Santee Offers Affordable Facilities for All Occasions Banquet Facilities The city rents rooms for banquets, receptions, business seminars, etc. at reasonable prices. Three different-sized rooms - the largest can accommodate up to 200 people for meetings and 130 for dining - are available at Santee City Hall at 10601 Magnolia Avenue in Santee.

Park Pavilions A great place for hosting family reunions, birthday parties or celebrations in one of Santee’s well-maintained public parks. Shaded picnic pavilions can be reserved at the city’s six major parks by purchasing a permit from the Community Services Department. An additional permit is required to reserve space in designated areas for inflatable air jumps or to bring in a caterer or other vendor. Reservation permits are accepted by fax or in person at Santee City Hall, Building 6. Find out if the pavilion you want is available by calling (619) 258-4100 ext. 222. Unreserved park pavilions are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
