Youth Programs

Let Santee Parks & Recreation support your family during these turbulent times with our fall programming designed to help your child flex their physical and mental muscles. The Epic Afternoons @ City Hall program is funded through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and is available at no cost to Santee residents directly impacted by a loss of income due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Submit an application, registration form and other qualifying documents to apply. See pages 3 & 7 for application and registration form, respectively.

Epic Afternoons @ City Hall Program

Funded through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act

This program is provided at no cost and is designed to support families directly impacted by a loss of income due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. In order to qualify for this program, the parent or guardian will need to provide documentation of their income loss as part of their application. Santee Teen Center programming and performing arts camps are not available through this funding. Please see info about Santee’s VIP Program on page 6 for alternative assistance options.

performing arts camps

No audiences are allowed at the end of camp recitals, however all performances will be filmed and you will receive a link to see your camper in action. Masks will be worn by campers at all times when social distancing cannot be maintained. All parents are required to remain outside of the dance room, but may watch through the windows, while wearing a mask and maintaining social distance from other parents. Temperature checks and health screenings will be administered daily. Your instructor will reach out before camp begins with more detailed information.

Hip Hop/Pop Stars Dance Camp

(8 weeks) 5–10 years

Learn to move like your favorite pop stars through fun hip hop warm-ups, across the floor technique and combo. Campers will learn a full choreographed dance routine to today’s music. Instructor: Charlene’s Dance & Cheer

Junior Storybook Musical Theater Camp: Trolls World Tour (8 weeks) 4–12 years Casting all boys and girls! Campers will explore fun drama games, dance choreography for musical theater and acting skills. Campers will learn acting lines and a dance routine from Trolls World Tour.

Cheer, Dance & Tumble Camp

Work on the fundamentals of cheerleading and pom-pom dance technique including arm motions, kicks, jumps, cheers, beginner level stunts/tumbling, sideline dances, stretches and a full routine. WAYS TO PAY

Proof of Residency A resident (R) is a person who lives within the city limits of Santee. Residency is based on the address of the class participant, not on the address of the payee. Proof of residency is required. Acceptable documents are: address imprinted on personal check, current property tax bill, utility bill, or driver’s license. (First time registrants only) Non-residents (NR) are welcome to sign up for our programs. An additional fee applies.

Proof of Age

(Minor registrants-first time only) Proof of age must be provided the first time you register with us. Participants must meet the minimum age requirement by the first day of activity and must not exceed the advertised maximum age. Proof of birth date is required. Acceptable documents are: birth certificate, immunization card, health card, or passport. The City of Santee is supports inclusion in our recreation programs. Please contact Community Services at (619) 258-4100 ext. 222 three (3) weeks prior to start date of program if your child requires accommodations due to a medical condition or disability.

Financial Assistance (Voucher Incentive Program-VIP) The Voucher Incentive Program (VIP), which is a $55 credit, is available for Santee Teen Center programming and performing arts camps. The financial assistance resident program provides financial assistance, to children, teens, and seniors to participate in city recreation programs. Funding is provided through funds raised by the Santee Park and Recreation Committee (SPARC) and recreation activity donations. To be eligible, applicants must live in Santee and have a total household income that meets U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. Applications can be obtained at Santee City Hall, 10601 Magnolia Avenue, Building 6. For more information call (619) 258-4100 ext. 222. CARES funding is only available for the Epic Afternoons @ City Hall program.

Refund Information If you are unsatisfied with your experience you may apply for a transfer, credit or refund by submitting a written request within the same session. If an activity is canceled due to a lack of enrollment, you can register for an alternative activity, if available, or request a refund. A fee may apply. Non-resident and online service fees are not refundable. The Recreation Services Division reserves the right to cancel or combine activities, or change instructors as needed.
