Your Kids - Their Summer - Our Camps Week Days*

Youth entering grades 9 -12 (up to age 17) Do you love having fun outdoors and entertaining kids? If so, this is the perfect job training for you! Assist the Santee Day Camp staff with program operations, activities, trips and special events. Ideal for young people looking for an opportunity to gain work experience, leadership training and professional development. This program gives Jr Camp Leaders a competitive edge when applying for jobs, internships and scholarships.

Mandatory Training Week:

Mandatory Training Week June 18-22

This week prepares Jr Camp (required for all new Leaders for their role with the Jr Leaders) Summer Day Camp program. Participants must successfully complete the mandatory training week in order to be eligible to participate in the remaining day camp weeks. Returning Jr Camp Leaders will help mentor the newcomers to the program. Registration for weeks 2-9 is open immediately (program needs and space restrictions apply). Participants who register for weeks 2-9 but do not successfully complete the training week will be credited or transferred to X-Factor Camp (age restrictions apply). June 18 Meet at City Hall, Building 8P 10601 Magnolia Ave. @ 8:00 am June 19 – 21 Various locations in Santee area and San Diego County. A more detailed schedule will be provided the first day. June 22 CPR and First Aid Training Extended hours available upon request.

Santee Day Camp + X-Factor Camp General Information Activities featured: Craft projects, sports, games, art creations, weekly swim sessions at the City of Santee Aquatics Center, a camp T-shirt (one per camper annually). Safety: Low participant to staff ratios create a safe, well supervised experience and a personal connection with each camper. Staff are youth and teen program experienced, background checked, first aid and CPR certified. 8-17 years

The future is now! The intergalactic trend has reached East County San Diego. Experience a new style of swordplay that combines the traditions of ancient combat with Jedi wisdom! This program uses the iconic Hollywood lightsaber in all of its colorful glory. Students learn to wield a replica lightsaber in a group class setting to sharpen their skills and instinct while adhering to the Jedi code of respect and discipline. Exercises include real-time blade combat based on a blend of martial arts. This is NOT choreographed swordplay. All equipment is provided. Instructor: LionHeart Academy Staff Week

Archery Camp

10-17 years

Experience East County’s only indoor archery range at LionHeart Academy‘s facility in El Cajon. Archers will be shooting arrows daily and improving their skills with a variety of challenging drills and games. Orientation on the first day will include range safety and shooting line etiquette. As the week progresses, archers learn problem solving and self-analysis skills to carry them through a lifetime. Students should wear a t-shirt, long pants, athletic footwear and bring a water bottle. US Archery recreational membership for $15 is required and can be obtained at usarchery.org

Skate Park Summer Camps

5-13 Years

Camps are geared towards riders of all levels. Students will learn tricks, maneuvers, how to use all aspects of the Skate & BMX Park, safety, etiquette and maintenance. Students will be divided by age and skill level. Please Bring: Skateboard, Scooter or BMX bike, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, water bottle and daily snack. Fencing Camp

8-17 years

Described as physical chess at 100 mph, fencing is lightning fast and teaches agility, strength, focus and tactical thinking – a sure hit for today’s video gaming generation. Students will learn advancing, retreating, lunging and an assortment of parries. By the last day, students will be wearing full fencing garb and participating in an electric bout scoring points like an Olympian. Students should wear a t-shirt, long pants, athletic footwear and bring a water bottle. US Fencing non-competitive membership for $10 is required and can be obtained at usfencing.org

Out and About A day-tripper’s delight, this program is for adventurous older adults who like to explore local and regional destinations within San Diego County. FREE Hydro Healing Class The YMCA has invited our Santee Seniors 55+ group to attend their Hydro Healing class for free from 9 – 10 am on the second Monday of the month on: 5/14 & 6/11. This class is water based, gentle exercise designed to enhance joint mobility and is beneficial for participants with chronic health conditions. Must bring a valid state ID and sign a waiver to attend, the waiver is valid for one year.

Affordable facilities for all occasions Santee Civic Center offers reasonably priced rooms that can accommodate a variety of functions, including banquets, weddings, meetings, parties or other special events. Our three rooms can accommodate groups from 20 to 200 participants. We offer rectangular or round tables with chairs to accommodate your group and have additional rental equipment including dance floor, decorations and other amenities. For an additional fee, staff services are available to assist with equipment set up, breakdown and cleanup at your event. The Civic Center is climate controlled and features ramps and railings for inclusive access. Ample parking is available.

Walker Preserve Trail 9500 Magnolia Avenue Come visit Santee’s 107-acre Walker Preserve along the San Diego River. Chances are you’ll see a variety of birds and other wildlife along this unpaved, 14-foot-wide trail. The mostly flat path, which extends for 1.13 miles from Magnolia Avenue to the city boundary with Lakeside, has a shade structure, drinking fountain, mister, bike repair.

The lakes are stocked with sport fish year-round and no state fishing license is needed, only a permit from the General Store. Proof of Age (Minor registrants - first time only) Proof of age must be provided the first time you register with us. Participants must meet the minimum age requirement by the first day of activity and must not exceed the advertised maximum age. Proof of birth date is required. Acceptable documents are: birth certificate, immunization card, health card, or passport. The City of Santee is proud to be affiliated with KIT. Financial Assistance (Voucher Incentive Program VIP) The financial assistance resident program provides financial assistance, to children, teens, and seniors to participate in city recreation programs. Funding is provided through funds raised by the Santee Park and Recreation Committee (SPARC) and recreation activity donations. To be eligible, applicants must live in Santee and have a total household income that meets U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. YMCA Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement for Minors (For Day Camp, X-Factor and Jr Leader) I, the undersigned parent/person having legal custody/guardianship of the above said minor, give permission for the minor to participate in all YMCA programs. The minor is physically able and mentally prepared to participate in all activities as described in the announcement for the program. In consideration of said minor being permitted to enter any branch of the YMCA of San Diego County (“YMCA”) for observation, use of facilities and/or equipment, or participation of the above in any program, I, on behalf of myself (as parent, guardian, coach, aide, spectator or participant) hereby: 1. Acknowledge that (i) I have read this document, (ii) I have inspected the YMCA facilities and equipment, (iii) I accept them as being safe and reasonably suited for the purposes intended and (iv) I voluntarily sign this document. 2.
