INTRODUCTION

Fall Fun List Dear Friends, Fall is right around the corner, bringing cooler temperatures, football season and for many Southlake families, a return to the daily school routine. With back-to-school shopping and new schedules taking center stage, the magic of summer can seem like a distant memory. Pool days and camp adventures may be on the way out, but Southlake Parks and Recreation is keeping that summer feeling alive with events and programs for every age and interest. Here are just a few things you and your family can enjoy in Southlake this fall:

Haunted Family Campout Get your ghost stories ready for some spooky fun in Bob Jones Park! This unique campout is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather with friends and family.

Monster Mash Come out to Aria Amphitheater in your best costume for sweet treats, games, crafts and live music at Southlake’s free family Halloween bash.

Home for the Holidays Glide down a snow hill then sip some hot chocolate while Town Square sparkles with hundreds of Christmas lights during Southlake’s annual holiday celebration.

Breakfast with Santa & Snacks with Santa Why leave cookies for Santa when you could enjoy them together? Join the City for one of our family holiday programs and get in the Christmas spirit with holiday music, delicious treats and plenty of photo ops.

Athletic Leagues Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of fall athletic leagues, including youth basketball, youth volleyball, adult softball and both youth and adult flag football. There’s a league for every athlete in your life!

I can’t think of a better way to maintain that summer state of mind than taking advantage of all the wonderful events and activities the City has to offer this fall. Whether you’re a young person, adult or one of our fabulous seniors, Southlake Community Services has just the thing to get you out and about in the community. I look forward to seeing you and your family around town soon! Laura K. Hill

Community Services Mission Statement The mission of the Community Services Department is to create engaging programs, events, and facilities where Southlake residents can connect, play, learn, and grow.

Swimmers will be required to wear one-piece suits (preferably racing suits), goggles and caps. Classes are held at the CISD Aquatics Center with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 35 participants (multiple instructors on deck). Please Note: No classes will be held on Halloween (October 31) or during Thanksgiving Break (November 19–25). If you have any questions, please contact StingraysSwimming@verizon.net.

GREEN INITIATIVES participate in

Keep K eep Southlake Beautiful Southlake ADOPT-A-STREET Beautiful Adopt-a-Street is a free program that allows organizations, businesses, groups, families and individuals to adopt and maintain areas within the Southlake community. This is similar to the Don’t Mess with Texas Adopt-A-Highway Program. Southlake is growing, and a surging population which means more cars on the roadways and unfortunately, more trash. Volunteer efforts reduce litter cleanup costs and save taxpayers money. The City of Southlake encourages you to become a partner and Adopt-a-Street.

Keep Southlake Beautiful is a City of Southlake program dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Southlake residents through green initiatives and beautification projects.

When you become an Adopt-a-Street partner, the following commitment is expected: • Participation in a minimum of four cleanups per year — Citywide cleanups are usually held in January, April, July and October. At your request, trash bags, gloves and safety vests will be provided to you at no charge. • Completion of a Quarterly Cleanup Report after each event — The Quarterly Cleanup Report asks you to record the number of volunteers, cumulative volunteer hours and bags of trash collected during each cleanup event.

For more information on and to find out how you can get involved, visit our website at ExperienceSouthlakeTexas.com/ksb or contact the Southlake Parks and Recreation office at (817) 748-8019.
