Parkinson’s Disease, and Learning to Cast a Fly Rod…. Fly fishing is a great activity for someone looking to improve their balance, coordination and increase mobility…all important things for people who are afflicted with Parkinson’s disease. We are planning a free fly casting clinic on July 6 from 10 am until 1 pm. The clinic will be held at Century Trout Farm in Oregon. Learn about fly fishing, equipment, casting and aquatic entomology. Our instructor will be Jonathan Hill, a life member of Trout Unlimited who is a Stoughton resident and is a new co-facilitator of the Stoughton Parkinson’s Disease Support Group. Jon was diagnosed with PD in 2014. There will be loaner rods available or bring your own. There will also be transportation available to and from the parking area to the pond and class areas. Limited fishing will be available only on a catch and release basis. However if a fish is too deeply hooked to survive it will be the responsibility of the fisherman to pay for it. For this outing we can host a maximum of ten people so please sign up early. If more are interested we can hold additional classes. Please call Hollee at the Stoughton Area Senior Center 873-8585 to reserve your place. Any questions please call Jon at 608-206-9597. ____________________________________________________________________________ For more information on other area programs and services, contact Stoughton Area Senior Center: 248 W.
