Rigdon Receives Emergency Management Certification Cathy Rigdon, Stoughton Area EMS Director, was recognized recently for achieving her Emergency Management Professional Certificate. The Wisconsin Division of Emergency Management established the voluntary Emergency Management Professional Certification Program in October of 1994. The program is designed for the dedicated emergency practitioner who seeks professional status and certification in the field of emergency management. Successful candidates have completed 52 hours of independent study course work, 240 hours of classroom activities, and 80 hours of study at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This program is open not only to county and municipal emergency managers, but can be completed by anyone at the state or local level who is interested in achieving this designation and holds, or would like to hold, an emergency management-related assignment.
