VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY Stoughton Area Senior Center Volunteers are an integral part of our daily services, programs and events. If you would like to know more about our volunteer opportunities, check your area(s) of interest below and return the completed form to us. __ Birthday Card Manager: Send bir thday car ds to Senior Center volunteer s on a monthly basis __ Blood Pressure Screening Attendant: Per for m blood pr essur e scr eens of Senior Center participants for at least 1- 3 hours per month. __ Committee Volunteer: Assist the Senior Center ’s Commission on Aging (COA) and staff with addressing action plans to assure the Senior Center functions in a way that supports national accreditation and strategic planning standards;1-2 hours/month. __ Computer Lab Attendant: Help Senior Center par ticipants utilize computer equipment and provide necessary guidance; Tuesdays 9:00-11:00 am. __ Facebook Coordinator: Maintain/ update content on our Facebook page; 1-2 hours/month __ Friendly Visitor: Maintain weekly social contact with a homebound older adult for a minimum of 6 months. __ Gardener: Plant, pr une or water outdoor flower s mid-May through September; help care for indoor plants year round:1-2 hours/week from May – September. __ Grant Writer: Resear ch, identify and complete gr ant, foundation or pr ivate funding pr ospects for the Senior Center. Time required is dependent on scope of grant. __ Instructor/Activity Leader: Shar e knowledge, skills, and talents by teaching classes and coordinating group activities for the benefit of senior participants; time required depends on class. __ Laundry Assistant: Launder kitchen towels and apr ons. Appr oximately 3 hour s __ Loan Closet Cleaner: maintain ongoing cleaning of the Senior Center ’s adaptive loan closet equipment; 1- 2 times/month, hours dependent on number of items needing cleaning. __ Loan Closet Maintenance: Assist with the gener al maintenance of items r etur ned or donated to the Senior Center’s adaptive equipment loan closet; flexible and on a monthly basis. __ Meal Site Assistance: Assist in the packaging of meals to be deliver ed to home-bound older adults; assist in serving and clean up after congregate meal served in dining room on weekdays, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
SENIOR CENTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY continued… __ Meals on Wheels Delivery: Deliver after noon meal fr om Senior Center to homebound older adults in the Stoughton area on weekdays, 1-2 hours/week; or on a substitute basis. __ Newsletter Distributor: Distr ibute Y ahara Senior News newsletter to Stoughton ar ea businesses and organizations; once/month; required time based on route. __ Newsletter Proofreader: Review newsletter dr aft(s) befor e it/they ar e due for pr int; approximately one hour/month. __ Photo Display Artist: Cr eatively display photos with captions of Senior Center pr ogr ams and events; 1 – 2 hours/month
__ Photographer: Take candid photos of selected Senior Center sponsor ed events; especially close-up images depicting an active, fun and engaging experience; time commitment varies. __ Receptionist: Gr eet and assist par ticipants and staff with var ious office/cler ical tasks on Thursday afternoons and Fridays. __ RSVP Driver: Pr ovide tr anspor tation to older adults (60 and older ); one r ide per week or more. __ Support Group Facilitator: Facilitate discussion dur ing monthly suppor t gr oups to help maintain the health and well-being of its members; 2-3 hours/month __ Table Setting Assistant: Fur nish congr egate dining tables with eating utensils, napkins, coffee cups and other items needed for daily lunches; one or more weekdays, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm __ Trip Escort: Designate and deter mine day tr ips for the Stoughton Ar ea Senior Center ; act as escort for these trips; once every other month __ Welcome Buddy: Welcome and give tour s to new visitor s of the Senior Center once/month or as needed. __ Do you have any other special talents?______________________________________________ Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Stoughton Area Senior Center.
