The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed to the public from August 25 - September 24 for floor renovations. Staff can still be reached by email and you can contact the Gallery at 757-514-7284.

Virtual Art- Day Wednesdays

- October 28: Exquisite Corpse Halloween Edition - November 18: Nature Rubbings and Sketchbook Creations - December 16: Watercolor 101 Time: 10:00 AM Cost: Free Ages: All Location: Virtual Join the Suffolk Art Gallery for a virtual workshop exploring different art techniques and mediums. Each month will introduce a new project and activity that participants can follow along with at home! All virtual workshops will be published at 10:00 am on our social media and will include a materials list and video. Fall Exhibit - Cumulative Contemplations Dates: September 25 - October 17 Cost: Free Ages: All Location: Suffolk Art Gallery We are excited to announce our new Fall Exhibit, Cumulative Contemplations, by watercolor artist, Sharon Hardin. Hardin has been painting with watercolor for the past three decades, and has exhibited from local to international galleries with her work. She has worked as an arts educator with both arts councils and universities, including the North Carolina School of the Arts, and Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.

Winter Exhibit - Live vs. Field Date: December 11 - January 22 Cost: Free Ages: All Location: Suffolk Art Gallery Join us at the Suffolk Art Gallery in December for our Winter Exhibit, Live vs. Field from local artists Christopher Revels, Julie Stanton, and Walt Taylor. This collaborative exhibit will focus around the relationship between line-work and color fields, with works combining areas of abstraction and representation, color block technique and realism.

Poetry, Prose & Pizza

Facilitator: Nathan Richardson Date: November 5 Times: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Cost: Free Ages: All Location: Suffolk Art Gallery Join the Suffolk Art Gallery, the Suffolk Art League, and host Nathan Richardson for this Open Mic event. Poets, writers, musicians, spoken word, and more are welcome. Present your own original works, or favorites by others. Not a writer or musician? Come listen to others, enjoy a slice of pizza, and visit the Gallery in a relaxed, open, and comfortable environment. Registration is available beginning at 6:00pm at the Gallery before the event.

Annual Photography Exhibit - Call for Entries

Date: November 6 - January 22 Cost: $30 Ages: 18+ Location: Suffolk Art Gallery Be a part of our 37th Annual Juried Photography Exhibit! Open to all professional and amateur photographers. Photography must be originals executed and altered by the photographer only. Registrations must include a completed entry form, payment, and submission of digital works. Email areavis@suffolkva.us if you have not received a form. Entry fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance into the exhibit. The exhibit will run from March 5th through April 16th, 2021. Applicants will be notified of jurors’ decision by February 5th.
