VALLEJO WEEKLY

ANDREW'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

A MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER

Hello Vallejo,

I hope that your week is going well and that you were able to participate in some of the exciting recent community events.

I attended my first Vallejo Art Walk downtown last Friday and enjoyed the entertainment, many vendors, and even an art opening. If you haven’t checked it out, I would encourage you to do so. It is a fun, relaxed, family-friendly event. Thanks to the organizers for making this happen.

I also attended my first Vallejo Juneteenth celebration last Saturday, which also had great entertainment, vendors, and community organizations sharing information about their programs. It was a beautiful day on the waterfront and a display of Vallejo’s culture and diversity. I am grateful for all the hard work put into the event by the Juneteenth Committee, community members, and City staff.

As you might know, the City has experienced some leadership transitions over the past few months as some senior staff members have retired or taken new positions with other organizations. We are working diligently to fill those positions. The City’s long-serving Planning and Development Services Director Christina Ratcliffe retired recently. I am happy to announce the appointment of Kristin Pollot, AICP, as the new Director. Kristin's first day with the City was June 17, 2024. She has over 20 years of experience working in local government, planning, and development services in various capacities. Please see the article in this edition of the Weekly and give a warm welcome to Kristin!

Finally, I would like to thank all of the residents who have applied to serve on City boards and commissions. The City Council conducted interviews earlier this week to fill positions on boards and commissions, which provide critical input to the City Council, me, and other City staff on projects and policies that affect all Vallejoans.

Enjoy a safe and healthy week.

With appreciation,

Andrew Murray Vallejo City Manager
